I was being gracious towards Israel when I said 98% of the Gazan dead are civilians. It’s closer to >99%. Which country in WW2 suffered a 99:1 civilian:soldier kill ratio?

No shock. The fringe right and fringe left are the same when it comes to their antipathy toward Jews.

I don't believe the Houthis launched a ballistic missile. If this is true, it was launched by Iran.

The intent or motive doesn’t change what it is. If Hamas blocked Gazans from moving south, then even more so should Israel avoid bombing and creating a genocide in Gaza.

WWII predated the Geneva Conventions that dealt with civilians and subsequent Protocols, which were adopted in large extent to address the way some of WWII was conducted.

I fully support Israel eliminating Hamas from the face of the earth along with those who assisted it in these horrific attacks. I also fully expect that to be done with an effort to minimize civilian casualties, especially to children.

This is what the terrorists using human shields said about their plans for the future. The terrorists who you want to protect as they hide behind human shields.

Hamas vows to repeat October 7 attacks and bring about the 'annihilation' of Israel while cynically saying it 'did not want to hurt civilians' as it slaughtered 1,400 people 'but there were complications on the ground' | Daily Mail Online

Using your warped logic. Israel should kill every last Gazan until there are no Hamas left, correct? If not, what is your cap on civilian deaths to eradicate the roughly 30,000 soldiers Hamas has? 500,000 dead Palestinians? 600,000 dead Palestinians? How far do you think Israel should go with the genocide to eradicate Hamas? And what is Israel going to do with that huge bloodguilt stain on their history, when Iran decides to get more frisky? Israel won’t have a single ally in the Middle East at that point and American sons and daughters will have to bail them out. I. Don’t. Think. So.

And just sit back and wait until Hamas commits another October 7 slaughter. No sane nation would do that.

I never said any of that. Address what I said, not what you make up.

Hamas should behave under the laws of war. It should not hide behind human shields.

After starting a war engaging in the terrorist slaughter of 1400 people and kidnapping 250 or so more people.
By establishing bases in and under civilian areas, Hamas is legally and morally responsible for making those areas legitimate targets. Not Israel.

Israel's legitimate right to defense is not genocide or ethnic cleansing.

Hamas continues to operate in Gaza. The hostages are still there.

Israel has a legitimate right to defend itself from Hamas and to eliminate Hamas-- who has said it will do it again.

What is your cap on the genocide? Is it 400,000 Palestinians? 800,000 Palestinians? Considering most of Hamas are still alive and well, you have a long way to go before they are eliminated. Just keep bombing and blowing up ambulances?

You could not have imagined Hamas before they were. Simply proxies of Iran. The next one will be at least a little more heinous than the current ones, if that is humanly possible. You are ensuring it with the continual slaughter of innocent Palestinians in Gaza. Israel’s actions are now validating to Palestinians everything they’ve been told by Iran’s proxies. Congratulations. Oh and you’ve fired nary a shot upon Tehran. Scared? Why?

I don’t think you are going to get anywhere calling it genocide. The only party who has committed genocide here is Hamas. Israel is not committing genocide. Israel is defending itself. The question you are asking is valid, there are probably ethical bounds that exist somewhere that should define Israel’s response. It is disingenuous, though, to say that Israel automatically is committing genocide because you think they went too far in trying to defend themselves.

Hamas is not an Iranian proxy. It is an extension of the Muslim Brotherhood and is Sunni. Hamas receives aid from Iran. Hezbollah is an Iranian proxy. Israel has been attacking Iranian targets in Syria and has been doing it for years. And Israel’s defensive actions toward Hamas have made the consequences to Iran and its proxies very clear if they engage in widespread warfare. Which is why Nazrallah basically said that Hezbollah is going to do nothing. Israel is not slaughtering innocent Palestinians. Hans has exposed Gazans to war by using them as human shields.

I believe Israel would still be willing to accept Hamas’ surrender. Ends the fighting. Spares the people. What’s the downside?
