An OC starting his very first game as a coordinator...and they get almost 500 yards on offense? Why?

Giving up nearly 500 yards to a team ranked #122 in Total Offense. At home.

Not just that, but vs an OC starting his very first game as a coordinator.

Scooby Williams was all by himself out there. We really missed Shemar James. It’s very obvious in person, last week and this. Must recruit better players.

Yeah I’m starting to see the issues rick has brought up with the 3 man front.

We definitely need depth on the defense, especially at LB. D gave up 2 TDs and 4 FGs in regulation. The 2 TD drives were over 70 yards and it was clear that our D gets tired, gassed by the 4th quarter. We need depth.

What about Teraja Mitchell and RJ Moten? Are we saying they aren't better than this?

I’m saying the only SEC caliber defensive player we have is out for the season.

It certainly doesn't help when your thinnest and arguably weakest group (LB) gets injuries. There has been progress over last year, but not a lot, and well, last year was some of the worst LB execution we've ever had as a group. Really need to hold onto the lb commits.

Other than LB, expecting so many players just two years out of hs or less to play like upperclassmen is the primary cause, not in this league and definitely not on LOS. We're playing the best talent we have, but so many on that side of the ball need more time to develop.

Most of the players who are seeing significant time this year for us should be waiting until their 3rd year (ideally as R-SO) to play at a championship level. Think about the one player that pops on D nearly every play (Princely) and remember that while he flashed that talent every now and then over the last couple of years, he was nowhere near where is today. Age matters.

There was a reason many felt 7 wins was the ceiling this year.

This is not an isolated game on D, one would think that we would be seeing signs of development and improvement as the year progresses, nope, not here. At the beginning of the year I had high hopes for our DC, we were playing sound fundamentals and yet as the year went along, we regressed. How in the world do you play soft D and not keep a spy on their qb. Makes you wonder who is calling for this type of D? Seems a different D than he called where he coached last. There he was much more aggressive.

It’s why I’m guarded, in my optimism, when I hear we just have to suffer until we get some five stars on the roster.
