Been told Condon, Haugh, and Szymczyk (who’s still rehabbing) are the real deal….with size and skill. All three maybe under the radar a wee bit post HS.
Some guy on 'X' posted that Haugh will be All-SEC next season. That's good speculation to hear but I don't think he needs that kind of expectation heaped upon his shoulders.
20-19.not that it matters. Action was fast paced with good plays on offense and defense. With the mixed lineups and short session it wasn't possible to judge much other than guys looked fast and athletic. There were some smooth shots and Kugel had short hair. lol Haugh and Condon played well. Very quick for their size and a lot of hustle. No one looked lost or hesitant. This is going to be a very fun team to watch.
He’s way ahead of schedule, but even Julian would say he’s still working to game shape. His quote in my story about scrimmage-ending sequence suggest as much.
I'm hoping we can build a big lead in the opener so that he can maybe get a few minutes on the court.
Here are Florida's projected starters' preseason scrimmage stats G Walter Clayton: 7-for-22 FG, 24 points, 5 rebounds, 13 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks G Will Richard: 13-for-20 FG, 39 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals G Riley Kugel: 14-for-22 FG, 39 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, 7 steals F Tyrese Samuel: 14-for-17 FG, 29 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assist, 3 steals, 2 blocks C Micah Handlogten: 7-for-12 FG, 16 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 block
Looks like our second team will be pretty tough also. Aberdeen/Kahn’s, Richards, Haugh, Condon and Rishwain. Shimmy and Pullen on the way! Let’s start the next week with a win. Go Gators. Mid January we will start seeing a starting team come together and the off the bench pieces enter and and keep the team scoring and defending as needed. We should be a high scoring team and if we can play tough on defense, we will have a shot to beat anybody. Slow down teams like Virginia and Texas A & M put the scare into me in that these guys want to get a man on man with one of their brutes, a whole deferent game. If we can learn to compete and win in a slow environment, come tournament time this would be a blessing. BRING IT ON………
It's a new season and we're still unbeaten. Anyhow, I think the Gators will be better than most expect.
