It is not just Hanas. Or haven’t you noticed the attempts to attack Israel by the Houthi’s and Hezbollah and Iran’s threats. The attacks started after 10-7 and they call themselves the “resistance.” Hamas represents and existential threat because anything short of its elimination now invites its allies to launch full scale attacks. And the threat of tens of thousands being killed in Israel by Hamas are only mitigated by the Iron Dome. And no country abound have to sit idle while another sovereign launches thousands of missiles into its country, a reign of terror like Hamas did on 10-7. None. The Nazis were an existential threat from evil Jews could not protect themselves because Jews did not have an country or army. 6 million slaughtered in Europe. And no county lifted a finger to help. My law partner’s grandfather was a pet of a delegation who saw Rosevelt before Pearl Harbor and they told him about what was happening to Jews in Europe. Rosevelt said that America wasn’t going to to to war to save Jews. And it didn’t until Japan forced the US into the war. Eisenhower was a great man. He documented the Holocaust because he knew that it would ne denied and would happen again. The bottom like is this: As I said, “Never Again” means we are not marching to the slaughter again. We are not going to take attack after attack until one succeeds. Not from people who scream “from the river to the sea” and take action.

I appreciate the reply. I believe I stated initially the casualties were almost entirely civilian and that decision was made on purpose. I’m well aware of the selection process, but I appreciate your seemingly compulsive need to add a personal attack.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise attack on a neutral country without any declaration of war. There was nothing honorable about it. FDR said it best with his infamy speech. You are just trying to win an internet argument.

The history I laid about has nothing to do with Netanyahu. I have yet to see any other solution offered to eradicating Hamas.

I am NOT suggesting it was a terror attack.

It wasn’t the deadliest either. Our bomb raids on Tokyo killed more people. But you never hear people debating whether that was necessary.

If it was done to deliberately maximize terror as you said, what was it?

More people are certainly willing to call Tokyo and Dresden war crimes, though far removed from the event

And that was incorrect too. Most Japanese were completely unaware of the bombs. It’s not like they had internet or a free press. The bombs were a show of force to Japan, to force a quick surrender. You can debate whether it worked, or was it the Russians declaring war. It was likely a combination. The point is those Nukes were not very different than the hundreds of air raid campaigns that both sides engaged on throughout the war. All war is awful and crimes against humanity are the rule not the exception.

To repeat for the 100th time I’m not suggesting an alternative solution. That doesn’t mean I’m not bothered by the loss of innocent life. It’s like you’re offended that I care about Palestinian civilians dying. Bizarre.

This is unfortunately where we are at. To some, compassion is enabling terrorism. There’s no room for nuance. You can’t both support Israel’s mission and feel compassion for the innocent people that will get caught in the cross fire. Humanity is always a casualty during war.

Try to walk and chew gum. It’s not that hard. US can support Israel, condemn anti-semitism and oppose Islamophobia here at home.

What do you suggest? I am not sure there is a good answer. People always complain about suffering.
