That coming from a supporter of the former defeated and indicted president, a con artist known for his lack of integrity who entered politics not to put the country first but to enrich himself.
You’re right. The Republican base resorting to violence and lawmakers cowering to it isn’t anything new.
Romney did manage to win the 2018 Utah Republican senatorial primary with 71% of the vote and followed by a win in the general election with a plus 30% margin. He was also elected governor of Massachusetts, one of the "bluest" states in the country by a roughly 5% point margin. I would agree that he would have had absolutely no chance of winning the 2024 Republican nomination had he decided to run but then neither does anyone not named Donald Trump considering that the party is now a cult of personality centered around worship of Trump rather than a normal political party.
maga flip/flops all over the place. We had W, a repub, and they turned on him. then, McCain & mitt were not just strong republicans, they were the actual Repub nominations for potus. repubs voted for them. it’s like they never did support them (bs) and treat them as pariahs. Other than follow the facts and speak out against Dear Leader, mitt is the same. now he is in fear of maga mob violence. meanwhile they follow a man who shared secrets that could jeopardize our military
Thought I’d attach this Adam Kinzinger article to this thread. Also heard a podcast episode on the Bulwark. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/a...ger-renegade-prodemocracy-republicans/675846/ This really struck me, as to how deeply some of fallen into the cult of Trump. This on the fallout of him voting to impeach Trump My co-pilot in Iraq sent me a text that said, “I’m ashamed to have ever served with you.” I had family that sent me a certified letter saying they’re ashamed to share my last name, that I was working for the devil. I used to laugh about it 10 months ago, but I’ve really allowed myself to accept what damage that’s done to me and my family. It’s not easy to go through. But I’m going to tell you, I have 0.0 percent regret for what I did, and I would do it all the exact same again.
i would volunteer my time for a Romney/Kinzinger ticket. Amazing how DT has turned families and friends against each other. people showing him so much loyalty and he wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire. defies all logic
How exactly did Trump pretend he didn’t lose the election? Did he show up to the oval office only to find the locks were changed? Just another stupid talking point. Kinzinger backed the wrong horse and lost everything, including his dignity, his friends and his family. You have to be below triple digits on the IQ scale to do what he did.
I mean Trump has continued claiming, right up through this year, that he won either states that he clearly lost or the 2020 election overall - how does that not count as pretending he didn’t lose? (Maybe he’s really sly as a fox and just trying to defeat the mens rea requirements of his conspiracy charges by trying to convince everyone that he wasn’t actually trying to knowingly keep valid votes from being counted and instead truly believes that he won the election, but that still would seem to qualify as pretending he didn’t lose.)
This is just shitty. Unlike most of his colleagues he decided to do the right thing. And for that you call him intellectually challenged. Please try and do better.
he did not do the right thing. We can just agree to disagree on that. What he did was stupid. He, along with that cranky, fat woman from Wyoming, allowed themselves to be used by a bunch of buffoons, so as to attempt to legitimize their propagandist proctologist exam which of course discovered nothing but shit. It was a colossal failure. They created a martyr.
I’m convinced that MAGA’s have less evolved pre-frontal cortexes, and their responses continually highlight that day in and out. They all voted for Romney at one point, and now he’s like the anti-Christ to them because he had the audacity to speak up against Dear Leader.
It's nothing new. They had this cult like love of GWB too until he screwed up so bad they had to dump him for a new idol in a failed attempt to keep the black guy from becoming president.
