One minor point of clarity. Shadeur did not play at Jax St in 2020. Deion is a very good coach, imo. He's been successful at every stage - HS, HBCU, CO. The Buffs won one game last season? Now they are instantly competitive. I'm no fan of Sanders, but the dude can coach.
Would you draw the same conclusion about Urban Meyer w/o Tim Tebow or Spurrier w/o Wuerffel? You'd have to begin by eliminating all UF NCs. That analogy aside, consider the program Deion took over at Jax St. 2016.....3-8 2017.....3-8 2018.....5-5 2019.....4-8 total.....15-29 (.341) So he took over a terrible program and immediately made it a winner. Show me a great coach and I'll show you great players and most likely a great QB. Having a good/great QB should not be an indictment on Deion. Still gotta coach 'im.
Urban and Spurrier won without Tebow and Weurffel. They had success with multiple quarterbacks. Deion's best season without his son was going 4-3.
0 NCs was the point. Obviously Urban and SoS are a pair of the best coaches in recent history, so it's not a comparison. To discount Deion's success because he has had a good QB is hogwash.
I would want to replace that whole online too... They looked awful against UCLA, got pushed around all night
No, my intrigue is that you believe I have bias against Sanders where none exist. I was simply being objective about him with my opinion. It has nothing to do with FSU. Of course, I do find it intriguing why Gators would vigorously defend him on a Florida message board...
Last I checked, Tim was a part time wildcat quarterback in 2006. He was a useful backup for Meyer, but Meyer went 22-4 with Chris Leak as the quarterback. As for SOS, he was successful with any quarterback he used. SOS would have won with Terry Dean, Shane Mathews, Johnson/Palmer or Rex. MNCs are not the minimum criteria.
Everyone is arguing whether he is a good coach or not meanwhile I'm asking the question...does it matter? Good coach or not. Improving Colorado or not, nothing he did deserved the all out media blitz and 24/7 coverage he and the program have gotten since they beat a depleted TCU team. It's still an improvement over the last year and tcu was still a good win for a program that won 1 game the year before but the media coverage that followed was absurd. Proclaiming Colorado "has arrived" after squeaking by Colorado state was absurd. The celebrity fest and sideshow is absurd. The trash talking prior to Oregon including telling fans and players they'll beat all their asses and their coach while wiping their feet on the Oregon emblem just didn't endear them with the public who had seen and heard enough. I think deion has proven to be a good CEO coach at this point. Can't take that away from him. But the coverage has been ridiculous. I don't even "hate" him but I am sick of the coverage. I also think his HBCU has been completely dropped by media because it contradicts his actions now. Add to that the Deion academic rule and his time at fsu and I'm certainly not a fan.
