Yeah, you're right. It was mostly the younger crowd. The tailgating is great. The best jambalaya I've ever had was at an lsu tailgate.
My experience at Baton Rouge was similar. Offered a lot of food and booze, including jambalaya, at more than one tailgate party. Best jambalaya I’ve ever eaten. Like most venues students and younger fans can be pretty vulgar and obnoxious. Always seems to me the bad fans are much worse when they win. Worst fan experiences my wife and I ever had were at Auburn and Tallacrappie. In both cases we were favored, but lost. And in both cases it was young people.
I think my post sounded too serious for what it was… I was just trying to make fun that apparently we are everyone’s Super Bowl when we clearly aren’t and how that’s used as an excuse for our losses against teams we would not be losing to a few years ago. And no, I’m not including LSU there. Right now we are mid to low tier. The numbers are clear.
This times a million. Once I was over 30 and didn't act like an arse, the fans would rag you, then grab you, sit you down, and stuff you with bourbon or beer, and some of the greatest food in the United States. It's the same with all older fans. We all just want to have fun and a good time...
Didn't you know, everyone is against the Gators-the SEC, NCAA, the refs, media, all the other schools in the country, weather forecasters.........................
Yet many teams really enjoy beating us. It’s just as true as us hating fsu and geor. I’d say we have more than out fair share of teams tgat really enjoy beating us.
As many as Georgia? They have GT, Florida, Auburn and Tennessee. Alabama has Auburn, LSU and Tennessee, at least. Many teams have several fierce rivalries. Who has more than Notre Dame? Sure some of the fans love to beat the Gators primarily due to our post-70s success, but teams no longer fear us. Who rushes the field after they beat us these days? We're 8-6 against USCe since 2010. We are 6-5 against Mizzou since they joined the SEC. Kentucky beat us four times since Stoops was the head coach. No one fears us anymore. South Carolina seems to be a barometer for us. When we have a very good/great team, they aren't a problem, even if they go 11-2, but if we have a mediocre team (by our standards), our wins and losses are often close games. In general, though, it is as Bill Parcells said, "You are what your record says you are."
FSU storm the field two years ago, no, that was last year. And what I’m talking about is that Kentucky loves to beat us a lot more than we love to be Kentucky. They get up for the game and we don’t.
I thought they did last year too, but couldn’t find it, so didn’t say it. Either way, I think it’s safe to say a lot of teams still care about beating us.
I think Spurrier pissed a lot of people off. I can still remember the hate like it was yesterday. Haha
