Agreed. Tremendous pressure to "pick a side." Hatfields or McCoys. No room for any nuanced positions.

Well the unfortunate fact is our country has picked a side, and that drives the discourse, especially given our peculiar relationship with Israel

Why would some be protesting Israel before they even were bombing Gaza? Come on. Just call it what it is. Celebrating the killing of innocent Jewish lives.

Demonstrators rally across the U.S. in response to violent conflict between Israel and Hamas

What is there to protest of Israel before they retaliated? That Palestinians elected Hamas years early and are now under their rule? Well that's their problem, not Israels. You keep on showing everyone your true colors. I'll keep pointing it out.

They probably could have gotten the “more nuanced” aspects of their letter a bit more attention if they hadn’t decided to emphasize, in bold, the assertion that Israel and western governments are responsible for the deaths of Israeli citizens.

It’s fairly easy to dismiss your grievance letter as excusing or justifying acts of terrorism when that’s what it expressly does.

It was going to be fairly easy for the same people to dismiss it no matter what, no matter how carefully they picked their language. Just like anyone who said anything lightly critical about American foreign policy in late 2001 was "the blame America first crowd."

LOL. So that's your take? Some people will defend anything I guess.

Your claim (Why would some be protesting Israel before they even were bombing Gaza?) was demonstrably false. Those protests did not start until after Israel had already begun bombing. Swing & a miss.

It's amazing isn't it. This guy is straight up, demonstrably wrong, and when you call him out on it he doubles down.

I think that attending UF we saw much less of this because we have such a large Jewish student population. At one point I think UF had the largest Jewish college student population in the county. I don't think anyone was able to graduate without having multiple friends and acquaintances who were Jewish, of varying levels of faithfulness. Harder to be antisemitic when you actually know Jewish people. The cure for any kind of bigotry is getting to know people better, and at UF that kind of comes with the territory.

not if you were on the first floor of Graham 84/85. At least 1/3 Jewish. Absolutely the most disgustingly racist people I've ever met. & I grew up on the W. side of Jax. They told our black RA to his face that he was inferior to them. Last fist fight I had was with 1 of those dicks.

yo, @danmanne65, when you & I lived on 16th ave, we were at the grocery store by there & some Jewish guys just savaged the black cashier...getting in her face & calling her "the dumbest person I've ever seen". You, to your credit, spoke up. don't know if you recall that.

FBI director: Antisemitism reaching ‘historic level’ in US | CNN Politics

FBI Director Christopher Wray said Tuesday that antisemitism is reaching “historic levels” in the United States.

“This is a threat that is reaching, in some way, sort of historic levels,” Wray said during a Senate hearing Tuesday. The FBI director said that was in part because “the Jewish community is targeted by terrorists really across the spectrum” including homegrown violent extremists, foreign terrorist organizations, and domestic violent extremists.

“In fact, our statistics would indicate that for a group that represents only about 2.4% of the American public, they account for something like 60% of all religious-based hate crimes,” Wray said of the Jewish American population.

LOL. I showed people celebrating Hamas killing 1300+ Israelis and you are trying to act like it didn’t happen.
