Im glad to hear, since I don’t want to recommend bad movies. Great thought on the Twilight Zone comparison. And the film also has that indie/minimalist feel that I like.
I read on Reddit I think that this movie used a lot of improvisations during the dialogues in the beginning. Pretty cool and I remember thinking the acting was legit. Relying on a low budget of $50K, the movie was shot over five nights in a single location with dialogue that was largely improvised. When Kevin (Maury Sterling) tries to leave the house by himself, Em (Emily Baldoni) was given a note to not let him leave and his note was to leave.
Sorry to keep at it. This is pretty damn interesting though. “But each day, instead of getting a script, the actors would get a page of notes for their individual character, whether it was a backstory or information about their motivations. They would come prepared for their character only. They had no idea what the other characters received, so each night there were completely real reactions, and surprises and responses.” How a Director Made a Sci-Fi Marvel in Five Days With No Script and No Budget – IndieWire
I feel like I did but maybe it was a heavy wine night because I'm not 100% sure. It's definitely something I would have clicked on!
It’s difficult to make bad recommendations. There are exceptions with movies that are generally regarded as very good or very bad. But most everyone has a different take on what they like/don’t like.
I think your post goes without saying. I thought Rade was just trying to be polite, and he was just hoping I’d like his suggestion.
Explains why I was so freaked out seeing hundreds of "Jugalos" at Riot Fest back in September. Even freakier was an entire Jugalo family, mom, dad and a kid on dad's shoulders in front of us while Death Cab was playing. I saw that kid's face and almost lost it. Didn't help that I was tripping.
I just caught Texas chainsaw massacre original for the first time. Not a fan. No plot. Lots of screaming and blood. I guess I wanted to have a reference point because most people have seen it. I was correct putting it off for so long lol. It’s trash.
I thought about re-watching it recently but didn't because I recall having a similar reaction. I'm not generally a fan of the Friday the 13th or other slasher movies for the same reasons you've pointed out here, although there is sometimes a bit of humor (intended or not) in those movies.
Just watched Barbarian. Holy crap. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t that. Going to ruminate on it a bit.
I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on this flick. Hope you didn’t watch it with the wife?! Lol… It was wild right?
Watched it per your suggestion. It was decent and a little different. Acting was better in Coherence.
