I wonder if Billy has that kind of fire in him. Kirby is like a madman running the length of the field.
Other than the trademark thrown visor I don’t recall Steve Spurrier running around like a maniac. I don’t think looney behavior is a necessary condition for a championship coach
I think it's a terrible mistake for coaches to try to act like someone they are not. While I'll agree Kirby is a madman and apparently can't complete a sentence without using the f word, I'm not sure that's the secret of his success. I think Kirby got this wacky dirty ridiculous call due to his 2 NCs and being #1- not from his behavior. If and when CBN starts winning, he'll get the calls too. I know some on this board point to Kirby's halftime outburst in 21 of our game, but actually UGA only outscored us 10-7 in the 2nd half of that game. Good disciplined football is what wins games- not a bunch of f bombs and acting like an idiot. If that stuff worked, Muschamp would still be our coach.
The spot was bad...so what. Our coach is responsible for the idiotic play on 4th down. Good teams overcome stuff like this. Call TO and tell the OL that the refs screwed us, tell them to kill the Uga defender he has to block as if he is the crooked ref. That's my "coaching."
We got away with some face masks and PIs and they just beat the crap out of us and it had nothing to do with the refs. But this one was beyond baffling. First I have no clue where they got INDISPUTABLE video evidence to overturn… But let’s say they did and it’s 4th down, how they managed to move the spot so far back is unbelievable. Should have been 4th and inches. We still would have called some dumb play and gotten stuffed anyway.
it’s worse than this. Kirby pulls it out, they drop to their knees. I’m not so sure that it’s the SEC doing this on their own. They didn’t bend over this much for Saban, Meyer, Spurrier, Stallings, or even Dye. I really think what we are seeing is the NBAification of football. It’s becoming a TV show, not a competition. Like Pro Wrestling, there is a desired outcome, and the competition will be managed to achieve that. Right now, the networks want the narrative of UGA threepeating. What happened Saturday was not the first (UGA for a lot of help from refs against OSU last year), and I’m pretty sure we will see it again before the clock strikes midnight this January 9th.
I don’t want Billy to act like that. You know you have a bad look on your sideline when Will Muschamp looks like the “Calm and Collected” one. And I like Will!
Lord, yes.....so annoying. My Brother is a Bama fan and he is constantly whining about the officiating even when Bama's OL goes 7 years without a holding penalty and is throttling most of their competition by 50 pts or more.
Not sure how this picture shows whether or not its a first down. This picture shows the knees down and the ball past the first line but no way to tell where the ball was when his knee went down.
I think you’re hitting the nail on the head. At the end of the day, the SEC (and every power 5 conference for that matter) knows who their bell cows are at the beginning of the season and will give them every advantage to succeed. Money is the name of the game here. Make playoffs and NY6 bowls, get more money. The only reason why the athletic directors whose teams get hosed don’t start flinging poo about it is because the revenue sharing and when they become the bell cow, they’ll get the calls. Who knows, maybe UF becomes mighty again and UGA gets screwed with certain calls. It’s not fair, but it’s the world we live in.
Most Bama fans I know over here agree tgat Bamas has bought the best classes money can buy and they love the calls they get. They just smile and take the wins.
It was a very close call but the call should not have been overturned. If the receiver runs his route 1 yard deeper, there is no issue. I don't get these receivers, on 3rd or 4th down, making their break or running a hook 1 or 2 yards short of the line to gain.
