Honestly I don’t feel as bad about this loss as compared with the Kentucky game, Georgia has much better athletes than us, we were not expected to win. Kentucky game was another story all together. That game was down right disgusting performance from both our coaches and players. Time to beat Arkansas, we have to win these winnable games.
Huh? I dont know how Florida is on that list based on our history, but Tennessee clearly should be on both lists.
It's much easier to convince the players, that might be a 5th or 6th round NFL guy to get every bit of cash from college NIL money before leaving school, now versus in years past, when illegal money was hidden from the public..
Particularly with the defense being slow off they ball since the both didn't want to give us a cheap 5 yards jumping early and also probably didn't think we were crazy enough to go for it on our own 29.
Are you sure you understand what my list represents? Tennessee is not on the list because I just don’t think they are one of the SEC’s big brand schools. I put them about on par with Auburn. In basketball, Tennessee has not won anything. UK is the clear #1 and Florida is #2 unless someone else starts winning some championships. We’re not talking about who is the best team right now we are talking about brand popularity.
I still like what the young recruits from 2024 and 2025 are saying... that they see playing time and the Gators getting better in the near future. That's the kind of mindset... and young men we need to keep recruiting to Gainesville.
Geeze I so disagree with you Murph . What in the hell have you been watching??? What about scheduling? If that’s the proverbial apple in the eye ….
Well I guess I dont. Your prior post said this was a list of "good old boys" and the "teams that the SEC favors". Thats not the same as who has the best brands. I might agree as to brand, not any of the rest and I think you are undervaluing the Vols.
Yes, they favor these teams as the biggest brands. It’s one in the same. Just like the NBA loves to see Lakers, Warriors, and Celtics in the Finals.
I think it just so happens that we have some tough games due to established rivalries. We used to beat up on Tennessee and Kentucky. These used to be gimme’s. Their emergence has made it a tough schedule. I’m not going to cry about our schedule. Beat who is in front of you like we used to do.
For next year, maybe. We need some big experienced O-lineman and experienced D-lineman too. But we also need to keep our 2024 class intact too.
It looked like it. That's how well they covered it. They were definitely prepared for that play. I don't think I've seen the snap through the QBs legs but maybe it's a common trick play and I just didn't know.
SDS (Saturday Down South) has done periodical pieces about the most penalized team for a given 5 year period in the SEC… there is one consistent trend, in aggregate Florida was the most penalized. That was true under Spurrier, (who magically became one of the least at South Carolina) Urban, Muschamp, and McElwain. None were high volume in terms of penalties elsewhere. There were outliers in some individual years…Alabama was the worse one year, but for the last 30+ years it’s Florida as the most penalized and it’s not even close. If someone can give a rational explanation for that, and the fact that when Florida coaches move on they suddenly become better at reducing penalties, I’m all ears… until then I’m with Skink on this.
Did anyone really expect a win? Aside from rooting for your team, no. Now, did anyone think the game would be decided early in the half. No. Dawgs just went on autopilot. Looking competent is always better for recruiting. That is what has folks upset. A few needed changes in off season and hopefully the youngsters get tougher before next year. Go Gators
This is said all the time. A close corollary is "a 5-win SEC is as good as an 8-win ACC team," which is up there with "For everyone else, our game with them is their MNC game." None of us can possibly know this is to be true. At best, an X-win SEC team is about 1 game better at most against an ACC X-win team, until you get to the top 2 teams on each side. As for next year, we don't even know how much better we will be. That is wishful thinking, my friend...
