I’m certain you don’t know what optimism means.

I have been very optimistic about the team under the Assumption that there would be improvement. But I just don't see any improvement. The win loss record isn't what I'm going by either. And I'm not the only one that's noticed. Several of the.gator shows have said the same thing. Either the player just can't learn it. Or the coaches just can't teach it.

Not taking yesterday’s resultinto account, but overall I get your point. Haven’t seen us look any different than we did in game 1 vs Utah last year. We look the exact same and I don’t see much of a “second year bump” on the field.

So for perspective rerun the numbers excluding KS and then run the same analysis from 1995 to 2008 and see if the results are similiar

I'm optimistic Travis Hunter will be sacked at least once and the DB's will hold Coleman and Wilson under 400 combined yards. Am I doing it right?

You’re using macro numbers to make a broad point. But when you look at the rosters from each team it quickly becomes apparent that our teams (as a whole) weren’t very good. What good did the NFL receivers that we had until Trask do us when we only had a good QB for 5 games from 2011 to 2019? What good did Perrine, Davis, Pierce when we had Zero ability to run block? What good did Jordan Scarlett and Calloway do us when UF Admin suspended them for a season for College stupidity.

My point is not that we have not had some very good players. My point is that we have not been able to accumulate 24 very good/excellent players on the same roster in any given year except for our offense in 2020 and a little more than half of 2019.

Excellent stuff dblw, but we're still only in Napier's 2nd year, in the wake of a triple whiff at HC decade's long mess.

CBN has cleaned a shitpile up, and laid some SERIOUS foundation. Neither Galen Hall nor Ron Zook were great coaches, but both stocked the locker room for their respective successors, who could not have had the success they had, without the recruitment of their predecessors.

What CBN was charged with doing, is on par with what Charley Pell had to do, in transitioning from another decade long sludge under Doug Dickey.

On top of that, while Pell negotiated the terrain according to what he learned from cheat'n Bear Bryant, Napier has had to negotiate the implementation of NIL, a seismic shift in the CFB terrain.

TBL: CBN may not be Steve Spurrier or Urban Meyer, but we weren't in a position for a closer. We were in need of a builder. Like Pell. That's what we got, and that's what we desperately needed.

    Total D in 2022: 97th
    Total D in 2023: 34th

    Total O in 2022: 38th
    Total O in 2023: 52nd

So D is improving while O has taken what I would consider an expected drop because of OL and new
QB that isn’t the mobile threat AR was

Recruiting is improving. Though OL is suspect.

    I get the CR concerns.

UGA averages about 40+ a game and their opponets average about 20+ a game. This was an average game result for Georgia and not a blowout. We lost. It sucks. We all hate Georgia and improvements are needed in all three phases but buzzwords don't change facts.

We are entering ugly November, so will be interesting to see how the numbers hold up.

we certainly have had more passes batted down than in recent history

Not sure if those numbers were before the game but if so I would think they drop lower after the UGA performance.

I see that now that I went to the ncaa site and looked :( Man we are tied for 108th in the country for sacks allowed. Almost 3per game.

Yep OL was expected to be the issue for the team this year. Most of the issues on O can be attributed to that. Goodwin not making it didn’t help. They do need to hit the portal well this year and land some better talent on the OL.

Hopefully we'll do better in the portal now that our NIL isn't completely dysfunctional.
