Playoff committee is meeting soon. I think the top 4 will resemble the rankings. 1.UGAG, 2.Mich, 3.OSU and 4.half ass U. Maybe flip those last two. It's possible that the Big 12 gets left out if OK beats Tx again. Assuming that one of Mich and Oh St. is gone after they play that leaves an open spot. Two spots if we take care of Shitbird U at the end of the year. One of the PAC 12 schools will get one of those spots. Thoughts?
Rankings are kind of dumb these days. They talk of strength of schedule like it matters, but it clearly doesn’t. UGA’s current schedule played thus far has nobody currently ranked. But like clockwork, they’ll be ranked number one simply because of their two straight national titles. Why should past seasons influence the current season rankings? If I were to rank the teams, I’d probably put Washington 1, Michigan 2, FSU 3, OSU 4, Oregon 5, UGA 6. Oregon over UGA because their schedule has been tougher IMO and their only loss was to Washington in Seattle and the game came down to the wire. UGA hasn’t beaten anyone deserving of a top 35 ranking.
Georgia won’t budge from the top spot till someone beats them. You don’t win 30 in a row and drop in rankings. Not gonna happen. Bias aside. If that were applicable I’d put Oregon in the 4 slot.
So you really think those 5 teams ahead of GA would beat them? Because that’s how the playoff rankings are supposed to work. It’s not a “poll”.
By definition it is a poll. You’re given specific information on the teams, given criteria on which to grade them, then you submit your opinion based on the facts presented. The rankings given based on those opinions are then compiled and placed in order from 1-25. They literally do the same thing in political polls. I think Washington and Michigan have the best chances at beating them. But all those I listed could, on any given Saturday beat Georgia. I did nothing other than consider strength of schedule, style points, etc. Based on those I wouldn’t rank Georgia in the top 5. Now of they finish undefeated after game 12, they would have a collection of wins against ranked opponents. But until then, they’ve played a powder puff schedule in which they’ve looked vulnerable at times.
Look out for Lsu They got Alabama Saturday night who I think they will beat. Fla and ATM at home. Uga in Atlanta. They win out there in even with two loses.
Uga has Ole Miss at home in two weeks But I think they win that. Lsu could give them trouble in Atlanta if the Tigers get there.
D Definition of a poll: Noun: the process of voting in an election Verb: record the opinion or vote of The CFP POLL is an opinion of the voters of said poll. It literally checks every block by definition. If you don’t agree with my opinion, cool whatever. But damn, you’re kind of being a condescending a**hole about it.
Maybe, but I think if LUS wins the SEC it will give the committee an excuse to exclude the SEC from the playoffs and give it to the Big 12 and Pac 12 just for old times sakes.
If the national championship comes down to UGA vs FSU...I'm going to bed 30 minutes before kickoff . Rocking back and forth in the fetal position while sucking my thumb..
Sagarin has MI, OSU, and Bama ahead of GA. College Football Ratings Page I'd rank the top four teams: 1. Oregon (barely lost @ WA and tough SoS) 2. Georgia 3. Michigan 4. Bama
Lots of people voting for Michigan in the top 4 despite the fact they have beaten one ranked team (OSU, also a perennial post season dud at 3-4 in playoffs with 2 of those wins the first year) in the last calendar year. Why though?
This sets the stage for 2 B1G teams to get in.
