He's MAGA and he lives in his preferred reality. You can explain the facts to him over and over but he will refuse to believe them.

Did you flee the Castro regime? Either way, he's only suggesting that DeSantis supporters, regardless of ethnicity, are foolish.

Well you've created your own reality where someone going 5 mph over the speed limit and someone going 100 mph over the speed limit are the same thing. Because they were both speeding.

No, he agreed that DeSantis is comparable to Castro. Now, he's accepted that DeSantis won a majority of the Hispanic vote, including the Cuban vote.

His explanation: "DeSantis voters, including Hispanic ones" are stupid.

The only logical conclusion to this is one of the following:
    1. Mutz understands Castro better than people who experienced and fled Castro.
    2. Cuban voters would flee Cuba only to desire and elect the same thing in the US.

    Take your pick.

Bill Barr, Trumps Attorney General said it was entirely a situation of Trumps own making. I don’t think I’ve heard any legal analyst say Trump should get a pass and that Trump and Biden did roughly the same thing.

True or False? They both violated the Espionage Act.

True or False? Biden's DOJ chose to prosecute Trump and not Biden.

Now, the Biden Administration wants to take the election out of the hands of the American people just because they can, as a matter of prosecutorial discretion.

Because the incompetent democrats allowed themselves to be defined as socialists in the castro mode. And don't underestimate the machismo element of the latin vote. A % of them are impressed by a strongman or at least one that presents themselves that way

Hmmm, seems like you're making an argument toward something that you wish I said. Weird.

In any case, fleeing from Cuba clearly doesn't negate support for authoritarian types in the US.

Allowed themselves is an interesting way of putting it. What does it say that they
    "allowed themselves" to?

I don't think Cuban expatriates would rather vote for a strongman Castro than a weak anti-Castro.

    1. You agree that DeSantis is comparable to Castro.
    2. You believe that Hispanic DeSantis voters are "foolish" for voting for him.

You have two possible logical conclusions to draw from this:
    1. Mutz understands Castro better than people who experienced and fled Castro.
    2. Cuban voters would flee Cuba only to desire and elect the same thing in the US.

    Take your pick.

Cubans were ruled by a dictator before Castro too. But they didn't start escaping to the US enmasse until Castro took over. So maybe it isn't the 'dictator' that's the issue. It's whether the dictator leans right or left.

In terms of his autocratic tendencies, DeSantis is comparable to dictators. Mutz understands that much better than you.

Your batting average for logical fallacies is .500. You can do better.

    1. Straw man: Didn't make that comparison
    2. True: I believe voting for DeSantis is foolish

    1. Straw man: Didn't claim that I understood Castro better
    2. True: Fleeing one authoritarian doesn't prevent one from supporting a different authoritarian (I didn't write desire, but if there is one, it would be for authoritarianism from the right).

Because DeSantis is a right-wing authoritarian, not a left-wing one. His supporters prefer his version of indoctrination to Castro's. Like you're doing now, they talk themselves into justifying how attacking the freedoms of those on the other side of the ideological spectrum is for the greater good, the same sort of crap Castro convinced his followers to believe.

I did not see this earlier in the thread. Apologize if I missed it. But this is a bizarre story. The new speaker claims to have an adopted black son that he never formally adopted. And he doesn’t list him anywhere on his bio, but has referred to him numerous times. Says that he and his wife as newlyweds adopted him when they were 25 and the kid was 14 but has his own family. Something is really bizarre about this.

Noting that most of the people who fled Castro going back all the way to 1960 were welcomed when they entered the US while people who have fled Maduro's regime are considered illegal immigrants even when they are not and should be kept out of the US according to supporters of a certain presidential candidate even including a number of whom were among those who fled Castro.
