UGA looked super fast on defense. Everytime we caught the ball there were three mutts there to engage. George was like a turnstyle with the guy he was trying to block. That guy harrassed Mertz all afternoon. Chasing after a receiver, our defense looked like they were trotting and then gave up. It's obvious our defense needs attention ASAP.
They would not have reviewed that play if Georgia was the team with the ball. They also decided to review our first TD. This was a hose job from the beginning — sadly, after getting completely screwed on the re-spot, the damage was done and the refs could act more objective the rest of the game. Mission accomplished
Cuts both ways. In most cases better than a brand new lineman but less eligibility and also whatever issues led them to try out free agency.
Four down linemen on defense, usually one dropping off in coverage, allows any qb time to throw where he wants. Playing zone defense, our dbs are playing to keep the plays in front of them, not getting picks. Have we even had a pick this year? We have good players, just the wrong schemes. a five man line with dbs playing man would get some pressure. That is with five grown men that can move up front on the line of scrimmage. Less time to throw and people making interceptions and breakups. It looks like we are waiting for the receiver to catch the ball then trying to run them down. Scared money defense that gets gashed with long runs and long after catch pass plays.
And scott s should be held accountable when the inevitable transpires at the swamp be it this year or in the future. JF solved the issue only to have the solution reversed mind boggling
Conferences protect their top teams that have national title hopes. In the SEC that’s UGA. There’s just so much money to be made on them. They’d never let a UF, or Tennessee, or UK allow that to be jeopardized. I also firmly believe that UGA will a third national title but get some help doing it. It’s been a long time since Minnesota three-peated in the mid 30’s. Did they need the help to beat us? Probably not, but with the amount of money on the line, you just don’t leave that up to chance.
I agree. We need a WR from the portal to be a 1 year bridge to these young guys. I think we also need a pass rusher if Princely leaves for the draft (really hope he decides to stay). I wouldn’t sneeze at a QB with one year of eligibility remaining just to be a depth piece in case Mertz gets hurt either
109th in team sacks 83rd rushing offense Line play needs to improve. Those are obviously developmental and depth positions that we probably won’t see drastic changes immediately. Certainly recruiting well on D line. O line? Any concerns with S&C?
They have played many tough games and have lost by one score or less. Their qb Jefferson can run and throw and if we get off to a slow start, we could be looking at a losing season…
And that is what I meant by saying our margin of success being razor thin. Imagine what might have happened if we had scored on our second possession after holding them to 3 points.
Did they review any play of UGa? Seemed like they only review Gator spots and I cringed during those reviews because I knew the outcome. Even those stiffs announcing felt like they had to mention it was obviously BS. But no repercussions and this seems to be the way SEC wants arrange things. I've never seen these spot issues before like I have this year. And the freaking conference that sir bowlcut had with the refs on that play and they produce that ridiculous spot because... what cha gonna it do about it gators?
*sighs* regarding complaints about officiating, we need to become a more resilient program than one that is broken by a single bad call. Plus, our OL were holding on for dear life and we got away with at least one blatant face mask.
This is what disheartens me. Why couldn’t we at least give a good account of ourselves. Hell, South Carolina hung with them for the better part of their game. Does Kirby just burn with fury when he plays us ?
Plus a horse collar. Passionate fans of any team, however, are convinced the officials are out to get their team. I don't buy the idea that our team gave up after the bad spot. That would be a damning indictment on the heart and character of our players, and an even worse indictment on our coaches...
