Ok, I get that. I pretty much tabled my Bucs' fanfare during the crablegs/Rapeis years. FWIW, my wife is a Steelers' fan, so I kind of adopted them as a tertiary team--until the rape allegations against Big Ben came out (and from what I read, seemed very well grounded/plausible). Then, I just couldn't watch them anymore either, until he retired. Same reason. Somehow, my wife had a blind spot for BB and his rape allegations, that I could never muster with JW. I gave her all kinds of grief about that, too. Can't really say until your in that position, but if the Gators turned a blind eye to rape allegations against a principle player, while I might be a bit conflicted at first (I'm obviously more Gator than Buc), pretty sure if push came to shove, my gut would be twisting and I'd be far more inclined to write angry protest letters to the AD and president and withhold funds, than to rationalize, and go with the blind eye, like the noles did so happily and guiltlessly, with Rapeis (still makes me want to throw up...).
When the Bucs had the ill fated retro uni this year, I thought kiss of death realizing it wasn’t retro for most of us
I think the Bucs are playing about as well as can be expected based on their schedule. The Dolphins have been fortunate to have played one of the easiest schedules. Bucs 3 wins against teams with a combined 8-13 record. 4 losses against teams with a combined 20-10 record. Jags 5 wins against teams with a combined 18-18 record. 2 losses against teams with a combined 9-4 record. Dolphins 5 wins against teams with a combined 8-25 record. 2 losses against teams with a combined 11-4 record.
My problem? They drafted Winston. Until he left, the Bucs WERE Raiders 2.0. And I am not talking about the "just win, baby" Raiders, I am talking about the abomination known as The Son Owns the Family Business.
And I hold the persons responsible forever. That would be the owners or powers at said school. Until they, not only the player are gone, I’m done with them. I’m kinda good with “ if you ain’t cheating, you ain’t tryin,” but that only goes so far.
live in Tampa and have watched the Bucs forever. Simply put, the Bucs Oline is horrific. Can’t run block and pass protection is weak. Not a Mayfield fan, but no run game and teams can tee off. Would like to see KT get a shot with those receivers, and it may happen before season end. Mayfield has gotten crushed several times already, and was surprised he got up several games ago when he was bent over backwards between defensive players. Bowles is a good guy. Very stoic. Defense has generally played well, but offense is a real problem.
I remember they were offered half a team of talent for the number 1 pick and that dumb gm and ownership elected to take a clown who couldn't read a defense playing against the worst strength of schedule to make a championship game in history. Oh and the guy had more character issues than anyone since Lawrence Philips. They couldn't see it coming despite it being glaringly obvious...one of the top 3 worst overall #1 picks in history....
and yet somehow that dumb GM and ownership won the Superbowl about 5 years later. Amazing turnaround.
The glazer family bought the Bucs in 1995. Malcolm died in 2014. How many players do you believe the Bucs have employed in this time period and how many have had character issues? Or is one the number for you?
Winston drafted as the face of the franchise. I wholeheartedly think that shows a complete lack of character, end of story.
It seemed to me at one point before the season started that Kyle Trask either had the upper hand in spring training or perhaps the media was just portraying it that way. They also insinuated that the coaching staff currently in TB weren’t giving Trask a chance because he wasn’t their guy. Once the season started and Kyle wasn’t named the starter I stopped paying attention, I haven’t watched the NFL in probably fifteen years, so I’m not sure how true any of this is. What I do know is that I would love to see him get a legitimate shot and do well on Sundays.
Objectively, end of your story. But here you still are reminding us of the past. No biggie, as a lifelong Bucs fan, I’ve seen 2 Super Bowl wins. That’s pretty good for me!
