My biggest concern with 3 point shooting is who do we get?

The Pullin who shot around 30% two seasons or the one who shot near 40% for two seasons? Clayton has shot 35% and 43% from 3 so far each season, which is great, but obviously it would be amazing to have the 43% shooter.

Those two guys, at 40%, would make us a completely different team considering it seems Kugel and Richard should be in the 38% range or better.

 

The way the guys are cheering on the bench, we know we're at least in mid-season form in one area of the game.

 

I know you’re joking…and it was good…..but this is actually a really good sign.
Really looks like a full team buy in, guys rooting for each other….that’s a great sign that the coaching staff is doing a great job.

 

Even of it doesn't count beating UM in any sport is a good thing. And Larrañaga is a good coach even if a bit shady.

 

Don’t worry, if we score two almost every time down the court, then we will always pull ahead as the game wears on. Our 3 point shots will fall at a high clip some games and we will blow some teams out.
Miami was a grinder which we prevailed on their court. This is a good sign. Our free throws and three points shots are going to get a better percentage most nights. Go Gators!
We are going to battle every game and we have talent and depth. Enjoy the Gators as they battle their way to a NCAA high seed!

 

Yep. We didn't shoot particularly well and still beat a team that is ranked 13th, went to the Final Four last season, and was playing on their own floor.
Now, who knows how each coach approached the scrimmage? Maybe Miami was more interested in trying out combinations than the outcome. Doesn't matter, it was still a great starting point for the Gators. ScUM beat us in the scrimmage on our floor last year.

 

35% is “ok”. We have several guys in that 35-40% range. I don’t see it as a major concern at all since we seem to gave several that can get buckets in multiple ways. Of course it would be nice to have one or two step up and be truly dangerous 3 point shooter (40%+). I mostly liked what I saw of Golden’s offense last year before Castelton went down, so with better overall depth this year hopefully we see see plenty of shots created through good offense/good ball movement.

 

Pick and roll, rebound with abandon, defend, especially on the 3-line, and leave the "heavy lifting" to Kugel and I will be a happy camper. The free throw blahs tell me everything about our shooting: we were not into it this game. It happens. You just wish it weren't affecting everyone all at once. But again, use my formula and the rest is gravy. Truly.

 

Not a bad formula but add a reliable 3 shooter and solid PG play and then we will be Golden.

 

Pick and roll pretty much says we have the PG. The 3 shooter is gravy...IF we do the other things. Now, to get to the FF, we HAVE to have a shooter or two.

 

Plenty of time to fix the free throws, but it's gotta happen.

 

It was sort of a half and half. It's great to see, I agree.

Just also made me chuckle a bit at the same time.

 

It's nice to see that the new talent additions meshed well with the returning players. Coach Golden will have plenty of talent to choose in forming his line-ups.

With Jarvis unfortunately gone, does anyone know how the other front-court players performed; for instance how did Micah Handlogten/Alex Condon/etc. play at the center position?

It's good to see Samuel had a very solid game at ?powerforward.

 

I haven't seen stats on the frontline (except for Samuel's 19 points), but CTG said that he was really happy with our rebounding.

 

Yeah. Great rebounding will be the key in limiting the opponents' possesions and hopefully will play a role in increasing our total win totals.
