yea, first goal was ugly to start the 2nd half.
i was disappointed to see how often the keeper punted the ball also. constantly would punt, and just give the ball back to Arkansas.
Felt like a lot of pour play to start that 2nd half. foolish turnovers, stupid give aways, very little attempt to keep the ball. The defense was all out of sorts, and game should have been more than 3-0.

with covid, many teams have 5th years players with years of experience. We are way behind when it comes to depth and talent. Arkansas literally had 25 girls on their bench. ridiculous. (florida has 36 on their roster)

we have a ton of freshman, lets hope she continues to find players and florida gets back to being florida of the old.
This teams goal i'm sure was lets make the sec tournament, that doesn't seem like it is going to happen. Maybe they beat Vandy? i don't seem them beating auburn or south carolina.

I'll be honest, it's weird to me. I see some players that belong, and others that are way behind technically. And expected a quicker impact by the transfers.

I was down in Gainesville and just was being as nosy as I could and was hearing the soccer team was getting some speed committed for up coming classes, that is one thing I noticed most of the time we are a step slow. Birdie told me these two are very fast and especially the one from Houston is very skilled goal scorer.

    Beat Auburn tonight 1-0.
    Nice positive step.

They play really good defense. Offense still struggles, but they actually outshot Auburn tonight, improving to 6-5-4, 2-4-2 in the SEC.

Any thoughts on why Lena Bailey does not play more? She got about 7 total minutes in the match and scored the only goal. I get that she is a freshman and appears a bit raw at times but her speed and athleticism adds a dynamic this team sorely lacks. I doubt we would have scored tonight without her. Her strength and quick reaction to put the loose ball in the back of the net got us 3 much needed points.

Just a guess: in some previous games she has been prone to pick up yellow cards. Coach may be trying to limit the possibility of playing short-handed because of careless fouling. Or, Coach may have just been sending her a message.

For the first time I remember this year, I saw some flashes of coherence in the attacking third. Each game, (except maybe Arky) they show some improvement in some aspect of the game. I also saw great improvement in going after, and winning(!), individual battles on 50-50 balls. And Goldberg's save in the last few minutes was absolutely terrific.

There are still too many head-scratching decisions and "that-was-to-who/where?" in the passing game, but there's no doubt that Coach is putting them in position to make baby-steps of progress in each match.

Looking at SEC tournament possibilities: If UF loses (vs S.Car), they're out. A win versus S.Car would put them in at 9th or 10th seed.

A tie with S.Car would allow UF to get the 10th seed it these three things happen (all of which are reasonably possible, IMO):
    Tenn loses (at Vandy), and
    LSU loses (at TA&M), and
Ole Miss loses or ties (vs Kentucky).

The only scenario which has me vexed is: UF ties SC, Tenn ties Vandy, LSU loses to TA&M, and Ole Miss loses or ties Kentucky. I consider this scenario also quite possible. In this case, UF, Tenn, and LSU would tie for 10th.

Each would have a record of 1-1 (3 pts) vs the other two. Strangely, the 3-team tiebreaker doesn't indicate how this tie would be broken. So, go Vandy! Go TA&M! Go Kentucky! And GO GATORS!

    Three Team Tie (or more)
The following procedure will be used until the tie is broken. If at any time this tie breaker results in only two remaining tied teams, then the two-team tiebreaker will be used beginning with Subsection A in that procedure and continuing from that point:
    A. If all teams have played one another, then most points earned in those matches only.
    B. If all teams have not played, but one team has defeated all teams in the tie break, then that team breaks the tie and shall be placed highest. Remaining teams will continue with the tie break procedure.
    C. If all teams have not played one another and a team does not have all wins over the tied teams, then use Subsection B in the two-team tie break procedures and continue through the two team tie-break procedures until ties between all teams are broken (except Subsection H will read "if three or more teams are still tied, the Commissioner will conduct a draw").

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Only the first section applies: "If all teams have played one another..." The other two apply only when all three teams have NOT played one another. But, they have all played. If all three teams tie for 10th, they will all have 3 points against the other two; and it specifically says the tiebreaker applies to only those games against each other (if I read it correctly).

So, then what? It doesn't say, because the next two sections are for when all three HAVEN'T played each other (which is not the case).

    Looking further at the tiebreaker:

I suspect the SEC will interpret the 3-team tiebreaker, section C, to mean, "If section A and section B don't break the 3-team tie, use subsection B of the two-team tie break procedures...." (That's an incorrect interpretation, IMO, but I suspect that's what they'll do.)

If so: LSU will - far and away - be the 10th seed - based on points earned against common opponents.

The only tie-break scenario that would send UF to the tourney is a 2-team tiebreaker between LSU and UF.

Summary for UF to get in the SEC tourney:
1)UF wins tonight (UF earns 9th seed), or
    2) UF ties tonight, plus LSU and Tenn both lose tonight, EDIT: and Ole Miss loses or ties vs Kentucky (UF earns 10th seed).

    Well, maybe.

SC just thumped Jawja on Sunday. It was a big statement game for SC because UGa has won the division (and automatic bye in the tournament) based on division points, even though SC has a far better conference record. And, this game really doesn't mean much to SC because their seed is currently 3rd and could only be as low as 4th even if they were to lose to UF. It's a classic trap game for them.

I can very easily see SC coming out flat while UF will be fighting for their tournament life, and UF seems to be peaking the past couple of games. A tie game wouldn't surprise me at all.

And, if I squint real hard, I think I can possibly see a UF victory tonight.

Gators earn the tie with SC 0-0. They nearly won it with 6 minutes to go, but the defender tipped it away from Hinnenkamp at the last second. (I should have squinted just a little harder.)

The other matches UF is watching are all scoreless, two at halftime and one midway through the first half.

Officially eliminated I think with the UT win, but still a solid second season. Went from 2-14-1 last year to 6-5-5 this year. If Deion were our coach we’d be making headlines everywhere :).
Big year next year to keep the momentum going and make NCAAs. We were a few lucky breaks away from being on the bubble this year. Our RPI going into tonight was 80, so we will end up in the 70’s.

6-5-6 actually, 2-4-4 in conference play where last year we were 0-9-1 in the SEC. I do agree that this is very solid improvement over last year when the program bottomed out. With a good recruiting class and another year for the returning players to work together, hopefully we'll see another jump up to at least the middle of the pack next year.

It wasn't just the W-L record. From 2022 to 2033, goal scoring increased 50% (16 to 24) and goals against decreased 55% (33 to 15).

Better than that was improvement in the level of play in all aspects of the game, from season start to season end. But, to me, the best part was the morale of the team. Early in the season, they were trying hard. In the FSU game, I first saw tenacity. Fast forward to tonight: In the first half of the game, they played really well. But in the second half, I can only describe their play as inspired. You could tell through the announcer's microphone that the spectators felt it too.

I believe UF soccer turned a very important corner tonight, right in front of our eyes.

I know signing day is a couple of weeks away, but I can't find any commits for the 2024 class. I know we have an oversized roster, but does anyone know about the 2024 class?
