The fact that it’s specific for school hours is key. And he didn’t “Cancel Halloween” as stated in the Fox headline. And if the poll in the OP was attempting to be relevant to the article, shouldn’t it mention “during school hours”. During school hours is really the actual point. The school’s instructions from link below (a different news source) “>>We will not have any themed events at any SOMSD school during school hours >>No costumes will be worn during school hours at our SOMSD >>Schools can partner with PTAs HSAs, or other outside organizations to do theme events after school hours >>after discussing this important topic with them we anticipate that all SOMSD elementary schools will eventually have a fall, harvest festival, event or themed activities that can occur during school time and can be held on October 31st.” South Orange-Maplewood School District ends Halloween celebrations in name of ‘equity and inclusion’
Must be hard for you. Thinking critically as well. Moving Halloween celebrations to after school hours is not canceling Halloween. But leave it to reactionaries to get their panties all tied in knots.
Yep, that's why I call it the outrage machine when my neighbor has fox news cranked up. I can almost feel the neighbor getting all lathered up from the other side of the wall.
Maybe rather than question or criticize another poster's reading comprehension, you just point out exactly why you think he's wrong? What do you think?
UFLawyer wants your tax dollars to pay for schools to put on a giant Halloween party for a day. Makes sense to me.
well yes, the school cancelled Halloween during school hours, because trying to cancel it after school hours would be an exercise in futility, don’t you think?
Some of the posters here are denser than grandma’s holiday fruit cake. The link was about canceling Halloween at schools due to stupid “inclusion” ideology.
No, I think people understand that it's simply about school hours. Claiming other posters are stupid doesn't accomplish anything. 'Inclusion' ideology, as you call it, can certainly be taken too far, but it's hardly inherently stupid. Schools have to be aware, particularly in the younger grades, that the feeling of being left out can be really difficult. A second-grader whose parents think Halloween is satanic could feel pretty crappy if everyone else in the class is in costume. And the debate about Halloween costumes in schools has been going on a long time, well before the panic and outrage over DEI. Lots of schools have switched to uniforms so poorer kids don't feel crappy because of their clothes, along with other reasons. I honestly don't remember if I wore a costume to school. It was a long time ago. But I have pretty great memories of going out trick or treating, especially because kids could go without parents way back then.
The concept that child a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,l,m,n,o,p,q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x, and y can’t do any traditional activity because child z (which really means teacher douche or parent Karen) think that child z may be offended is, in fact, STUPID. I draw a line in the sand on that one. The concept of “equity” and “inclusion”, as used by this cult, is also STUPID. It’s just another way of saying we’re going to take everyone’s rights away from them in order for the person in last place to catch up. It’s antithetical to freedom, dissuades hard work and incentives failure. It is anti American, anti success, anti mental health and it is destroying the fabric of this great country. Every child needs to fail multiple times in order to incentivize and teach the child. Last place is an awesome lesson platform, because your child can only improve from there. First place may sound awesome, but it is almost always temporary, and you have no where to go but down…which also is an awesome lesson platform. Being in last place allows you to boost those in front of you over the wall, while being in first place allows you to grab and pull people over the wall. Teach your kid humility and generosity and watch what happens. Having child z feel excluded (allegedly) by all the other children participating in an activity that child z does not want to do is a teaching platform, not only for child z (“sometimes other people engage in conduct that you don’t like. That is real world life”). But it is also a teaching platform for kids a - y. (“Try to invite others to your activity” or “stop your activity and join child z for his activity”). Every moment in life which may seem negative or hurtful also has a positive element. Teaching our children to recognize this and encouraging them to look for that “silver lining” in all things as they grow and develop is much more valuable than shoving failure down their throats. Finally, I could never climb Mount Everest. But I don’t want to discourage others from doing it. I want to buy them a beer, because they are awesome.
What can I say? Besides representing a genuine threat to the country the pathological narcissist with the orange complexion is a really entertaining personality. Were he not afflicted with Narcissistic Personality Disorder after he lost the election Trump would have delivered a dignified concession speech and probably would have returned to what he does best reality television. He wouldn't be facing multiple indictments and he wouldn't have ruined the lives of well over a dozen other successful individuals mostly attorneys who should have known better and have really have only themselves to blame. As long as Donald Trump chooses to remain in the spotlight he remains a valid target for his antics and giving him credit where credit is due he still has the gift of manipulating the marks that continue to support him as well as politicians who probably know better but lack the balls to stand up to him. Edit: I consider the rating of "Come on Man" a compliment since the post managed to trigger a snowflake supporter of the former president
When my boys were in elementary school, they had something called "Book-o-ween" where they dressed up as a character from a book they read and carried the book with them as they did some kind of parade around the school. That was mid 2000's so people weren't canceling all kinds of crap back then.
