But at this stage in his career, he sounds an awful lot like Timmy...incredible talent, work ethic, character. Might be the program changing recruit that Napier needs. A High School Football Fairy Tale Unfolds in Southeast Texas
The part about him asking the coach if they could throw some passes to a specific WR because he didn't have many touches...man, that warmed my heart to read. Also encouraged by his coaches assessment of his passing ability. There will never be another Tebow, but DJ definitely has the feel of a kid who could come in and lead us back to prominence. And do it with character.
MAN!!! That article made ME want to go visit that high school on a Friday nite game atmosphere! Those people have rallied around the is young man and team. Can’t wait for him to be a gator!
I had the same thought. I live about 3.5 hours from there. And 4 of my kids go to Texas A&M, which is about an hour away.
Wow! I’m looking forward to DJ Lagway. In the meantime… Go Mertz. Great days are ahead for the Gators.
I'm excited DJ will have one year of tuteledge from Mertz before he has to take the reigns himself. That will be incredibly helpful to have a film rat like Mertz able to teach him what's in his head.
what just crossed my mind too is that Lagway’s other 3 finalist school wise, A&M, USCw, and Clemson have the same or worst record than us at this point in time although all 3 had WAAAAY higher preseason expectations. None of those will meet or exceed preseason expectations
We stole a great one out of the Aggie's backyard. I'm glad his dad was a Baylor Bear otherwise I bet he and that whole town would be drinking the maroon Kool Aid.
Can't wait to see this kid in orange and blue. That being said...the only concern I have is I hope we don't build him up too much and set expectations way too high. Although he seems the type who wants the bar set like that and embraces the pressure...
