I'm not sure if you would find any situation in which the correct idea is to fire a warning shot into the ceiling. We are talking about nothing but putting everybody else in danger for the benefit of trying to convince the person who just climbed through a clear window in which somebody was clearly pointing a gun at the broken window for a reasonable period of time that he really means it. All while hoping that she doesn't charge you while your gun is pointed in the air.

Plus if you shoot into the ceiling, you have no idea who may be on the floor above that you may kill or injure. I'm sure she and the rest of that frenzied mob meant no harm at all to certain elected officials; just a game of patty cake over tea and crumpets, right?

There's a more fundamental issue. If a bullet strikes something it can not penetrate, it will ricochet...and not in a very predictable manner. NO law enforcement officer or properly trained gun safety expert would ever recommend firing a warning shot.

Aging Gator should do society a favor and surrender any firearms in his possession until he completes a gun safety course. With that "mentality," he is a menace.

Extreme is a relative term. I wouldn’t consider you extreme but I would see you in the leftmost 25% of the Democratic Party (maybe 1/3).

Having said that while we disagree on some things I feel like we can at least have an intelligent conversation and you are obviously well informed, regardless of ideology. I can’t even have a conversation with the right most 25% of the Republican Party.

Spend some time interacting with a bunch of the DSA types, and you'll get it.

Your words in this post show that you, rightly show disgust for the fringe fight that claims “he was a thug and deserved it”. It also shows that you are on the fringe left(no better than the fringe right) when it comes to an insurrectionist trespasser that you don’t agree with. Your hypocrisy is only superseded by your hatred of those who politically differ from you.

But please carry on. It’s actually quite entertaining to watch.

The key difference with Babbit is that she was charging forward, leading a mob.

Almost none of the “racial justice” killings were an active scene (in several cases the suspect died in police custody, in the Freddy Grey case in the back of a van). Most of those highest profile cases aren’t even close calls, even where the cop(s) ultimately got off, at minimum we are talking about severe police misconduct or gross negligence (such as the killing of Breonna Taylor). None of them involved killing a suspect engaged in violent acts.

Obviously with any shooting you wonder if it could have been avoided, but that is not the standard. The standard is if it’s “reasonable”. The Babbit shooting would be reasonable even without the mob. If some wacked out nutjob is ignoring commands and breaking through a window, it’s a legal shoot, essentially it’s a textbook example of castle doctrine. That is true whether you are defending your own home, your business, or you are a cop charged with defending the congressional offices. With the mob? I don’t see how anyone could arrive at the conclusion the officer reacted unreasonably, I mean there’s video. He had the gun clearly trained on her, and he shot only as she tried to break in. It’s textbook. The woman was a fruitcake (with her own history of violent episodes) trying to break through a window in the Capitol, she was not a hero or a martyr, just a brainwashed moron.

The details of the medical examiner’s report are not new. There is apparently nothing “new” here. It’s very similar to the tactics Chauvin’s own defense originally used to attempt to discredit the ME’s homicide ruling. You know that always happens, right? The defense has its own expert try and discredit the state’s experts?

The medical examiner did not “change” his report. In fact, his testimony was the opposite. That he stood by his report. The claim that the examiner changed the report appears to be fake newz. One guy saying “yeah there was pressure” is not the same as saying the medical examiner lied on his report, and anyone making that assertion is full of shit (and surprise surprise, it’s Mr. “You can’t believe the facts he tells you” himself pushing that nonsense).

So you are fine with (rightly so) denigrating the morons like Gaetz and
Green, but then(wrongly so) join the squad for dinner and then act like them.

I hope you’re smarter than that. The margins of each side are destructive to our country and really need to be marginalized. Given that House Rep elections are the most local you will always get kooks. That has been going on for decades now. The kooks used to be treated like the clown shows that they are. Now they are treated as spokespeople. It is the job of the adults in the chamber, the media, and all of us to marginalize both. We have all failed.

If we let the Gaetzs, Greens and Squads of the world run things we’re all screwed. We already arein many ways just by the number of people who actually support those morons.
