Body cam video shows violent exchange before deputy fatally shoots previously exonerated man (msn.com)

    MSN

Aldridge asks Cure to get out of the car, which he does, but he then refuses to put his hands on the truck.

“I ain’t doing s---,” Cure can be heard telling the deputy.

The exchanged gets tense quickly as Aldridge tells Cure that he'll use a stun gun if he doesn't comply. Cure complies and asks why he's being pulled over.

“You passed me doing 100 miles per hour ,” the deputy said, before asking Cure to put his hands behind his back.

This guy just got exonerated and then he pulled this crap
Why is it so hard for people to comply? This idiot refused to listen to the deputy then went after him. I feel bad for this deputy because now he'll be portrayed as a bad person or not properly trained. I don't understand the amount of stupidity in our country.

Our institutions of higher learning need a "rest" to fix all that makes their teaching nothing more than hate propaganda on social issues.

“I’m not driving, how was I speeding? …”
    Was the guy on drugs?

Not defending the driver at all, but the deputy did seem really agitated from the start. Is that the best way to begin the interaction, seems like it'd fuel trouble.

This is the guy that spent something like 15 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit and was exonerated. I'm sure he was super paranoid and had no intentions of going back to prison

I had an interaction on Tuesday where I had a parking officer writing me a ticket for not having the little sticker on my license plate. I guess it fell off or got stolen. I walked up and politely asked him what the issue was. He was a complete asshole from the beginning until the end of our interaction. Completely unnecessary.

I tell every employee I've ever had that no matter the job or industry, every occupation is a customer service job. You represent the company, the uniform, and myself in every interaction you have.

The dude went around him doing a hundred, he most likely thought this was on drugs or something

Probably. Did immediately yelling help the situation?

If someone is driving recklessly, over 100 mph, then they should expect the cop to be less than polite when they get pulled over. Driver didn’t care about other people’s lives.

Yes I would have realized that I highly agitated the deputy by going over a 100..
Most with a lick of common sense would a realized that.

It might help to see the whole video, the officer could have been talking over the cars speaker before he exited the vehicle.

Certainly understand that his fear of police would be greater than most people. But that doesn’t excuse his action and actually he did everything he could to make sure he went to jail … or get shot.

Doesn't excuse, but it certainly seems that it can help explain his actions.

    An arrest for speeding?

When an interaction starts to get physical like this, and it isn’t an arrest based on a felony offense like murder, etc, why not just let the guy go on his way, regroup with a team, and arrest him at home?

Why does it have to go to death in that moment?

The guy was driving recklessly at over 100 mph. Sure, because the guy resisted, the cop should have simply just let him go and assume he was going to not continue to drive recklessly. Unreal.

What if the cop let the guy go and he continued to drive over 100 mph and he caused a serious accident?

100 mph, acting erratically. Can’t let him go, especially behind the wheel.

Point taken (didn’t read through), though my question could apply to many other situations.

Bad facts usually leads to a bad result.

Guy doing 100 when he got pulled over was likely paranoid after wrongfully spending 16 years in jail for something he didn’t do.

Officer had no idea about the guy’s past.

Guy gets out of car but doesn’t comply.

Belligerent officer gets more aggressive. Things amp up. .

Destined to likely get a bad result, as tragic as it was.

I tell my staff the same. The patient is almost always right. Now that doesn’t give them the right to be complete jerks to my staff either.
