Top 4. Ava pitching. Two strike outs and a fly out to left. Bottom 4. Cassidy and Emily strike out. Mia walks and steals second (slid extremely hard into second giving me horrible flashbacks to her terrible injury but she seems OK). Alyssa flies out to center.
Top 5. Oliva in to pitch. Strike out. Ground out to second. Walk. Single to right with runner to third. Ground out 1-4-3 to end the game. That's it folks, I'm toast...but I finally got the cocktail.
Sound slike a lot to be excited about it. Still find it hilarious that all the OU fans said Jocey wasn't a big loss because she'd never be good enough to catch for OU as a lefty. She knew she was better than to sit around and wait.
Did walsh not play? I don't remember seeing her mentioned anywhere. Just hope there not an injury or anything.
One of the freshman's mother was telling me how rude she had found some of the postings from so-called fans. She was appalled at some of the comments about the team and individual players after two fall ball games. There is not much of that on here, but as the season progresses let's remember: This is the most important thing I will report: Parents and players see Social Media and Message Boards. It helps no one if they are denigrated. These are young ladies who are trying their best. And, the parents who support them have spent probably hundreds of thousands of dollars and countless hours away from home supporting these young ladies. If you have a young lady in your life, would you want to say about them as has been said on these Message Boards and social media? Think of whom you are posting about before typing. If you have more than 1 drink, turn off your computer/phone. Post as if it was your daughter or niece. As someone else has said elsewhere: X player made a terrible play. OK X player is a terrible player. No Thanks.
scrappygator makes a good point. But sometimes it's hard to see the line. The example he gave, sure. But where's the line? Let's say we had a JUCO portal transfer and after watching her you thought she wasn't ready for D1 level of play. In discussing the player, could you say that? On the one hand, that's disparaging. On the other hand, it's good to get other people's opinions -- that's why we're all here, for an honest discussion of the sport. Dunno. This came up recently and I didn't post for a long time while I thought about it. But then I said it. Maybe that was wrong?
Sandwiching is a great method for giving criticism. Layer your critique between positive statements. Glad to have her as a Gator. The adjustment to D1 looks tough for her, but she is working her tail off. College athletes deserve respect.
I can't recall anything on this site even remotely objectionable. There is appalling stuff on twitter and other sites in regard to football, and I won't read a game thread for football on any site. It's inexcusable what some post. All that said, parents/players need to avoid reading social media if they are bothered by this stuff. It's not going to change.
Kendra has been on fire, not to mention Sky, Korbe, and Jocey. I think you would be hard-pressed to find a first four better than Kendra, Korbe, Skylar, and Jocey. I'll hang up and listen off the air.
Pitching....will make us or break us. The lineup has real fire power; the defense is solid (mostly); gotta avoid the dreaded "I" word. First time caller?
All three have hit the ball, especially Avery. She is the one who made the stitches in the USF 2B face. That ball was smoked. Avery and Katie just missed home runs on Tuesday. Kaila has been hitting pretty well.
There are some real battles shaping up for starting positions. Goelz and Kistler have to step it up or freshmen could take their spots. Competition for playing time takes away complacency and motivates the good players to get better.
Very happy to see UF softball get competitive again. The SEC is no joke and you will get your arse handed to you very quickly if you are not careful.
Don't be shocked if Ariel stays in the mix somewhere. At least being platooned. She can catch and play third, or any infield. She just missed going yard last night. She got under it and hit a moonshot that went almost to the center field track. If she had squared it up just a tad better it would have been far gone.
