Tomahawk Chop controversy

That is SO COOOL. I’ve never seen that type of art or depictions before.

 

ref$u chant hands down is the worst. At least Rocky Top is a legit song. The only thing that comes close to being as obnoxious as the wailing and hand waving is that freaking sandstorm noise blasted at USCe home games

If Florida cannot have "Gator Bait" then FSU should not have the tomahawk chop. I know, the reasons are very different and there is no rhyme or reason to these decisions. The band brought back "Move Back You Suck" and it led to a road victory. Maybe bringing back "Gator Bait" will lead to a victory over Georgia. Maybe banning the cringe FSU tomahawk chop leads to a Florida national championship.

 

Well the chop is stupid and racist, so if Taylor Swift has the power to bring about change, I support it!

 

I wondered if anyone would get the Major League reference. We use that one all the time on the golf course. Great movie. Just a bit outside. I don’t know how they’re laying off these pitches. Wild thing. You make my heart sing. You walk everything.

 

Sandstorm is a “banger” as the kids would say. I know, I have a 16 year old who educates me on the newest lingo. The last one I used was for my wife’s lasagna. “This lasagne SLAPS

You’re right. There is a difference between “Gatorbait” and the “Tomahawk Chop.” The controversy over making light of tribal traditions (with gross inaccuracy) is at least real. The controversy over Gatorbait was complete fiction that didn’t stand up to even the slightest bit of historical scrutiny. Yet one university caved and the other gets to keep its traditions by paying tribute to a pretendian organization.

 

I wondered what the hand motions meant in the south Carolina game

 

One of the most quotable movies ever, it’s a classic. My wife won’t watch it because she doesn’t like baseball and I’ve tried to tell her it’s hilarious no matter what.

 

I was at the game in Columbia on Saturday. The Sandstorm thing is so irritating. They play it after ever score--during the commercial breaks, which makes it even worse. I just don't get it. They try too hard to make the game day experience mean something--from Cocky coming into the stadium to some "celebrity" doing something before kickoff. And whoever sang the National Anthem skipped/forgot some parts of the song. Was kind of sad. And they only have one scoreboard in one end zone and they pretty much kept the feed from the game on there the whole time. Was kind of hard keeping up with down and distance. Decent stadium, but the "experience" kind of sucked.

 

I almost didn't watch this... it is brilliant.
If anyone hasn't seen it- do yourself a favor and take 1 minute and watch.

 

FSU officially has the worst primal chant in American sports. How they haven't been canceled yet like everyone else is beyond me.
