That begs the question - Where are all of these talented ladies going to play? Coach Walton seems to be in a position he hasn't been in for a long time - Having almost too much talent outside the circle. The competition will be fierce and some are going to be very disappointed with their lack of playing time. Hope the team chemistry is strong enough to handle it all.
Not always. Witness Jocey. And they flat loaded up in recruiting the 2025 class so eventually watch for more transfers. Patty is not going to stop hitting the portal for 3-5 elite experienced players every year with promises of NIL money and playing time. These recruits, most who think they are the next Jayda Coleman, are going to be in for a shock once they get to Norman.
I'm not sure this is what we thought Mia would get from Skylar's mentorship (Skylar is NOT a normal human being): Skylar Wallace on TikTok
Anybody see the game tonight? Sounds like Brown was really good in relief and Miller may have started shaky but go it together.
I never know anything about anyone before they arrive and play here. Hat's off to the posters who know the pipeline. Based on her background does Brown figure to be our #1 pitcher? I gotta tell you, from watching last night, Brown has this air of confidence in the circle, like "this is my team and I got this," and pumps up her teammates (like when Falby made a great catch, bailing Ava out) in a way that seems really genuine. And I really hope that Ariel Kowalewski goes by "AK" for short. Her name is hard to remember but more importantly, she's #47.
That's pretty funny about Ariel. But my guess would be Brown is going to be a strong leader for this tem. I've listened to some of her podcast appearances and she is all business and all gators. Think she is going to be very key for us.
Coach Walton was just live on Steve Russell. Among other things said Keegan Rothrock was expected to pitch some tomorrow evening! Hooray! I only heard the last half of the interview, but it will be posted as part of Steve’s podcast when posted. He said we’re making some mistakes because young players are learning and he’s moving them around to train them at multiple positions . He felt ultimately we’d be good defensively and offensively this year. He thought there would be some bumps along the way in pitching as the new pitchers got experience. He also talked about how he’s using Coach Enea.
Yeppers, but the best part was seeing the joy of her teammates all mobbing her for her very first HR. Not your standard celebration. Hope someone provides a full report. When I planned a trip to GNV for Fall Ball, I was expecting last night to be the last game at KSP for a while.
Ok…he said he’s exposing Coach Enea to a wide range of coaching activities, with a first emphasis on working with catchers, but also including base running, fielding, batting, etc. Later she may assigned a specific area. She is also the on field first base coach right now. I think he basically said she is very energetic and a great learner and may even have a future as a head coach somewhere.
The WRUF Sports Scene with Steve Russell 10/18 interview with Tim Walton has now been posted. Turns out the first half was devoted to talking about softball returning to the Olympics in 2028 and about Tim being a softball coach for the next Pan American games.
I would not be shocked if that "somewhere" was here at UF down the road. I am just guessing with no information to back it up but my gut tells me he told Francesca to give up her broadcasting career so she could get a few years coaching under her belt if she ever wanted to be the head coach at UF.
Just barely cleared the fence in almost dead center. Thought for a moment the center fielder robbed it but she didn't. She later ripped a rope double to the right center fence. Kid is a real player.
