Plenty of time to get up for the Cocktail Party, so here's some statistical fodder.

    Team.....scorO.....scorD.....runO.....runD.....passO.....passD.....3rd%.....3rdDef
    GA..........40.1.......14.0.......172.4.....91.4......337.0......171.1.......57.1.......23.6
    FL...........29.1.......20.0.......141.3.....124.7....280.4......187.6.......33.3.......29.5

They appear to have an advantage in every category. o_O
Florida (#35) has played a tougher schedule thus far than George (#42). Here's how the opponents stack up:

    FL....................GA
    TN....................KY
    UT....................SC
    KY....................Aub
    SC....................UAB
    VY.....................VY
    Char..................BallSt
    McNeeseSt.........TN Martin

The Gators will have to play their best game and hope to get some mistakes by GA in order to win.

If we bring the same intensity we did agaisnt SC, it’s a game. If we don’t it will be a long afternoon.

Kirby will have Georgia ready. Lets match their intensity!

    Go Gators!!!

I saw UGA's SOS so far... on some site, and it was much easier than #42... But that's not really an important statistic.

I just hope we can tackle, and we stack the box on defense...

Stack the box? UGA leads the conference in passing and Beck is second in passing.

I see how he plays when he's under duress... Do you think we're going to sit back and go into prevent defense with that guy? Let him pick us apart? Not on your life.

We're going to make that young man as uncomfortable as possible... and that requires stacking the box.

Against UK we saw some soft play. Hope to see us be much more physical against UGA.

  15. I follow a fellow Gator PhD on X (Twitter) who does some great statistical analysis of the Gators. I was surprised to find out that against SC the offense used the same concepts for the most part, but better executed and with an occasional tendency-breaker wrinkle. I thought I was watching a more extensive change in offense. Maybe the "antiquated Napier offense" (not my words) is just now starting to come together and had 423 passing yards--to include ~400 completed air-yards (no YAC) vs ~500 attempted air-yards just by taking the deep option that has always been there. Against UGA the Gators might have to turn to the deep passing game to get the run game going rather than using the run game to get the deep passing game going (the normal Napier approach). I guess what I am saying is that Napier's plan to make the Gators a tough one or two week prep is finally coming together, so far one or two phases of the game has lagged, and they will need all three phases of the game to come together to beat UGA.

It's the intensity that has lacked and is what concerns me the most. Loved what we saw the last 10 minutes of last game. Hoping this is what to expect moving forward.

I remember SOS's comments during the '91 season when he mentioned how much he had to impress upon the team that they needed to play with intensity. He said we are just a mediocre team without it.

Bowers is probably out for this game. If that is the case, this may be a closer game than people think. Their D lost a lot to the NFL. UGA is still the better team regardless. If we stay within one score going into the 4th quarter, anything can happen. Go Gators!

Although they have the better team by most - if not all - metrics, I can guarantee that UGA fans are not feeling anywhere near as comfy & snug playing us this year. Kirby will have them ready to play us with fierce intensity. We need to bring the same energy and then anything can happen. UGA needed Bowers to save them from an L vs. an Auburn team that isn't elite by any means - another UGA rival. Preparation over the next 10 days is key, then bringing the highest intensity & fire to all 60 minutes of the game. Huge progress is being made and we are turning the corner.
