don’t need to. There are 14 teams in the SEC. Florida defense is last, 14th, in sacks with 11. We may get pressures but all year we have had trouble sacking the qb. Just a fact. 5 teams have double the number of sacks we have (well, almost 5 Arkansas has 21).

Related….Turnovers can be flukey but pressure on the qb also can correlate to turnovers…Florida defense is dead last in turnovers for SEC teams as well with just 4, with one of them being the fumble on the final play of the game vs South Carolina on the safety/punt return fumble.

We do need some improvement in sack rate if we want ti pull some upsets in our remaining games.

would love,to see Collins and Searcy explode in that game as both seem to do an excellent job getting back ther. McClellen too…though he seems to get constantly held (with no calls).

You can stay as negative as you want and fall back on your statement just to prove your negativity... Or you can give this team and coaches more credit for getting all those freshman and underclassman to perform the way they are. Our defense is a work in progress, and they're young.

Remember... No team in college football is unbeatable.

not really sure what you are referring to..,”state”? Do you mean stats? Wasn’t sure.

I also don’t see how by pointing out facts equals being negative. I should ignore where we can improve - which said improvement will help the team succeed- or I am proving my negativity?

The team has been doing some good things (such as a massive overall improvement in the defense since last year and 2021, steadily improving passing game, tons of youth showing out) but I don’t have blinders on to where and if the team struggles in certain areas. That also doesn’t equate to me NOT giving credit for good performances. One does not equal the other. I am a realist and see both the positive and negative from game to game and overall.

and I agree…no team is unbeatable.

I think Sapp returned a short kick off on Saturday. Probably posting in jest to get Sapp back deep since his return gave us a good start on the driive.

Mentioning "stats" that happen to be negative is not just "pointing out facts". There are lots of good stats associated with this team also. Overall, I would guess the stats for the D are overwhelmingly positive but you went negative. We do need to improve in the areas you mentioned. Our extremely young team should be expected to improve every game and their overall performance this year is a welcome surprise. Btw, just trying to fight off any buzz kill at the start of our bye week.

Got to learn to walk before you can run. I'm sure the coaches know sacks are important. Truth is this team is over achieving on both sides of the ball and some folks are blind to it.

That poor sc player thought he was going to truck our kick returner, little did he know it was Sapp! He set the tone early, and is my special special teams player of the week!

I don't see your constructive criticism as over the top negativity. You've acknowledged improvements but it's clearly going to take some more pressure which creates mistakes in order to beat some of these teams coming up.

Spurrier once said our best defensive plays are dropped passes. That was during the Pruett days. The biggest difference between those days and today is that our team is ridiculously young. I'm assuming the sacks and turnovers will come once the youth plays faster mentally which isn't likely to happen this year. Now when stoops came in we brought in an influx of youth as well in Kearse, Rutledge, Beauchamp etc however I think we had the benefit of some veterans mixed in and an offense that constantly dictated the flow of the game. Not really apples to apples.

    Just my thoughts.

Got the defense even more fired up. Negate Kimber's PI we get the ball back and go up 14 zip and the rout is on. In my imagination anyways.

Seems like Several games we've had early miscues or almost made plays that could have turned games heavily to our favor but instead became tight ones or losses.

Part of the Journey I suppose.

Yeah, boardingham was a QB or WR in high school...forgot which. He's not a great blocker. But he better learn quick, because he's our best pass-catching TE.

Yeah, so you don't think Austin Armstrong and Billy Napier will try and come up with a plan to remedy that, or are you just expecting a beat-down?

I would rather expect that we stack the box with 8 defenders... not saying we rush all 8 but putting them no more than one yard from the LOS is a start... That would mean we have to play smart on the back end which has not been our strong suit either.

But we do need to at least give our defense the best possible scheme to keep Beck from passing on us all day long... picking our DBs apart. We cannot afford to give Beck all day long to pass the ball, that will never win this game. That passive sit back and wait football will insure we lose this game, and I would think our coaches know that too.

Rushing 3 D-lineman will give Beck all day long to find a receiver and it will not work. We need to be creative with stunts and delayed blitz packages...

So, spare us the stats.. we know what they are. Try and post a solution instead... ;)

So many plays that if we don't make just one of them we lose this game. And the crazy good catches by our receiving corps... simply amazing.

To annoy the crap out of opposing fans.

    EDIT:

The tradition began in 2009 when the Gamecocks were hosting Ole Miss. During a pivotal third down in the fourth quarter, South Carolina picked up a huge sack while the song blared through the stadium speakers. Since then, the electric dance song by Finnish DJ Darude has been a staple at Williams-Brice Stadium.

South Carolina to host live 'Sandstorm' performance
