Just because your risk is low, doesn't mean you shouldn't take precautions to lower the risk any further. Unless said risk is so low, it's zero. The risk of me getting into a car accident and dying on my next trip is very low. I drive thousands of miles a year, and haven't died yet. Still, I can increase my odds of survival by simply wearing my seat belt, which is why I buckle up every time I get in.

The COVID vaccine, even in young kids, is the same. Even if the risk is low, the benefits of vaccination far outweighs any risk according to just about every scientific study on the subject, including this one that looks at European kids. Parents who don't understand science shouldn't be allowed to attempt to educate their kids on things they don't understand. They are idiots. Those who do follow science understand that the CDC isn't the only panel that has approved and recommended vaccines for kids as young as 6 months. The Japanese has done so too. Guess they are a bunch of charlatans too!

And should doctors lose their licenses for harming, killing and/or disfiguring children ?

Whenever I see people pointing bony fingers at the unmasked and/or unvaxxed I picture them wearing white hoods.

Anti-science people will always be with us. Exactly what they have against science is unclear to me, but I'll take a guess. It's that damn Satan-inspired theory of evolution, a biological hoax that makes all science suspect in the eyes of the faithful.

CVS in North Florida last week. Free through Medicare. Zero issues, flu shot in other arm... minor soreness.

I have a friend who received on of the first Covid shots in her state. She has gotten all of her Covid shots at the earliest opportunity. She’s had her flu shot. She’s had her RSV shot. Yet she says she and her husband have been sick with “some virus or bacteria” for eight of the first nine months of this year.

I don't know if that 95% is true or where you got it from but it's not uncommon for percentages to flip respective to population size when comparing groups of vastly difference population sizes. Happens quite often.

Also, deaths are at their lowest point since early in the pandemic, so the size of the pie is now far smaller (38x smaller from omicron peak) and thus, decreased difference in rates is largely an outcome of far fewer deaths. A flip in percentages is also much more likely to occur when there are small numbers of outcomes.

I think that’s a bit much, perhaps you were being dramatic.

The interesting thing about RSV, 20 years in the ER we never tested anyone but peds for RSV. But now the elderly needed to be vaccinated. I guess for decades we were being negligent.

Going to my pcp tomorrow. Will probably get my shot tomorrow….slightly earlier than when I usually get my flu shot but since I’m there, might as well get it.

Go run the hard numbers from England. They have been over 95% vaccinated dying with Covid since I think April of 2022. Why? Because the group that dies from the disease is mostly vaccinated. Your health means far more to surviving Covid verse a shot. Shoot it is the same for the flu or any sickness.

Raw numbers are meaningless. Data without analysis is like sports scores without knowing the sport and teams playing. They mean nothing.

Rates are what matter. And in the UK, the rates of COVID deaths by vaccination status tells the story. By each age group, the unvaccinated die at greater rates.

So, for people who understand science and basic statistics, if you want to reduce the v death rates from COVID for all ages, what do you do? Vaccinate? Or maybe all you need to do is floss your teeth!

Please don’t harm young people. This seems to tell me you understand they are at almost no risk.
