I wanted to enjoy Saturday's victory for a day before I posted this thread. What a great weekend to be a Florida Gator! But now it's time to look to the second half of the season. We've seen some adjustments up to this point, but the bye week is historically the time for more major changes. I'd like to see Damien George move inside to guard and get Hudson or Waites a chance at tackle. From what I understand the reason George transfered was that Saban wouldn't give him a chance at tackle and BN would. I support keeping promises, but George isn't working at tackle. I think this would help our running and passing game. What say you? In addition, what changes would you like to see?
It's a good time to evaluate ones Scotch selection and current open bottle routine. I opened a new one to start SEC play. Do I open a another one or finish what is already in rotation? My wife's Bourbon, do I throw out that disgusting sweet juice that's only good for cocktails? These are seriously difficult decisions, except the Bourbon part.
I would only add that I need to adjust my "pre-game prep", just like Napier did for the USCe/away games. When the game starts at noon, you have a Bloody Mary or two and you are good to go for the game. Additionally, when it starts at 7, you KNOW you have to wait until you are close to the kickoff to start, otherwise you may end up falling asleep before the game begins. Pretty easy to understand. Those pesky 3:30 or 4p games are the conundrum. Do you act like it is a noon game and take the chance that you drink up all the liquor before you get to halftime and have to tackle the second half getting increasingly sober eek:) or do you miss the pre-game workout while killing time watching the noon games and you won't be "prepared enough" to tackle the early parts of the game? I know, I will be inspired by Napier and adjust just like he did: for all the "away" games (including Jacksonville), I will "show up" a day earlier than I usually do. That looks like a winning combination. Thanks for the idea, Billy!!!
Girly Navy = Likes Bourbon Manly Marine = Likes Scotch On a serious note, most just haven't had the right Scotch. They assume all Scotch is like Lagavulin.
My wife watches Outlander and got it in her head to want to try Scotch. So she ordered a Glenlivet 12 year, took one sip, and I had to power through the rest. I'm sure that's not exactly a great bottle, but I'm not a fan of the smokey flavor.
On defense. I’d like to see Mitchel play the majority of snaps at LB. He fires into the hole and usually affects the play. (Tackle or otherwise). James makes some plays but he also runs himself out of the play too much in my opinion. None of our DBs are good tacklers imo…so I don’t think substitution is an option unfortunately. Haha
There is a great thread on whiskey/whisky in the pub that has lots of discussion and recommendations. I like the peat of Islays and many people don't. The Ardbegh line up suits me for inexpensive and my favorite (not cheap)Scotch is Bowmore's 18. Glenrothes or the Balvenie Caribbean Cask for a reasonable taste of Speyside. For a blend I like both the Green Label and Gold Label Johnny Walker. There are so many different flavor profiles that it is fun to just taste and learn. Find the discussion in the PUB. Thanks to Finlake for taking this thread back where it belongs
Considering the teams we have left for the remainder of the season I recommend mushrooms. Doesn't have to be a large trip-inducing dose just enough to take the edge off. If you'd prefer something that isn't natural, safe, and tested for millenia, then ask your doctor about an SSRI like Prozac, but you will also need viagra.
You cut me to the bone on that Bourbon remark. Ever tried Woodford Reserve or Elijah Craig? Not the most costly but both very smooth, straight up.
Both are great. I think Larceny is a great below 50 one. I like Bourbon but prefer Scotch, especially in the Fall. I'm just giving people a hard time.
Outlander. Jeesh! My wife's side of the family is Fraser. I know!!!! Wife bought me a kilt for some reason. The last time we were visiting Culloden I swear there was an Outlander tour full of middle aged women. I will say Heughan's (actor for Jamie) whiskey Sassenach is actually pretty good.
How in the world has that open bottle survived, especially after that Kentucky game? I prefer bourbon but on the scotch side really like Lagavulin. Maybe I’m an outlier.
I rotate a few. I probably have around 4 open at a time. All different profiles. Peaty Scotches are great for Fall/Winter IMO. I like Bourbon for the summer.
