Youngest team in the country with a transfer QB won in a hostile environment. A team that had won like 14/16 off a bye week while ours struggled mightily on the road. This is why the dopes at ESPN, etc don't want Billy to succeed. He's crushing recruiting & if he has success with this team they know the rest of the country is in trouble.
Yep, pre season this year i had us 6 and six with a bowl bid. Next year that may br a taller order, even with our growth and improvement.
Maybe most of us will be eating crow at the end of season. I would be fine with that. Before the season started I predicted 7 wins and after the Utah game I adjusted my prediction to 6 because of the way the team lost. To be fair, I nearly turned off the South Carolina game. After watching the last few minutes I have finally gathered enough hope to go back to my earlier prediction of 7 wins. This team is a mystery, but at least we know there is a spark in them and they can prove us wrong. I am okay with being proven wrong, but then again I am not a professional sports writer who gets paid to draw attention to readers.
I had 8 wins coming into the year. Still reasonably confident we get there. Defense has been iffy lately, but the offense is hitting its stride, the special teams issues have been cleaned up the last few weeks, and hopefully a healthy Kingsley can settle down the OL. Frankly, Mizzou doesn’t scare me. Kentucky was legitimately their first good game of the season, and they play us immediately after games against Georgia and Tennessee—third straight tough contest in as many weeks. Arky is a win at home. Just gotta beat FSU at home. Like UT, it’s so important for a PR/fan support perspective.
I can see us winning maybe 3 more games (Arky Mizzou and FSU), but, frankly, I could also easily see us losing out the rest of the way and missing a bowl game. I know Arky is 0-4 in SEC play and we get them at home, but they will probably be due for a win by the time they play us, they played LSU and Alabama very close, and they get a bye week before playing us. The rest of the games we will be the underdogs. It could be a rough ride from here on out, but I still think we are headed in the right direction.
how about the fact we kept fighting, coach opened up the offense, won on the road against a decent team while starting more underclassmen than any other SEC team, sucked two weeks ago, showed what can be on offense with proper prep and decent play calling? The catch and circumstances were similar to a game where some kid named Doering got a touchdown. I don't remember fans and players poo pooing that comeback, just celebrating it.
No mystery to me. The team is very young. This is what you get with very young teams. Thankfully, with the classes Coach is stacking, our team should never be this young again.
You need a bit more faith than this take. Something HUGE happened on Saturday. There IS a different place to go than "we are BACK!!!" and "we be BAD AGAIN!!!" This team is going to be FUN to watch for the remaining season. Just remember: get yourself a nice, BIG flask and a designated driver. You WILL need both of them.
I hope you are right. Call it 13 years of doing exactly what you are suggesting, only to be disappointed. Muschamp had us beating four top 10 teams in 2012, then what? McElwain got us to the SEC Championship game twice, I believe, then what? Mullen gives us the most exciting offense we have had around here in over a decade, then what? So you will understand if I try not to get too ahead of myself over a 2 point win against a USCe team that had one of the worst defenses and rushing games in the league goign into our game with them. But, hope springs eternal!
I'll be that guy. We had a FG blocked (not on the kicker), so ST still not clean. I thought Slaughter had a decent game at C and has definitely been making progress. Barring quite a big turn around the OL is going to be our biggest issue although the DL is making a case.
That's fine. But special teams on the whole are much more consistent and less mistake prone than the first month of the season. I am hoping the OL continues to coalesce. Again, such a mess of injuries, suspensions, and discontinuity the first month. Nine sacks the last three weeks isn't terrible given the volume of pass attempts (119), but it's still been rough. My bigger concern is the inability of the back seven to generate turnovers. We are tied for 122nd with four turnovers gained. That's insane. Though it's rivaled by only 11 sacks, which is 110th. Tackling has been better, rushing defense has been better (with the exception of the Kentucky debacle) and third down D has been immensely better (12th nationally), but our inability make plays defensively has just made the game much harder for us.
Arky is about to be blown up. Tit boss is about to get fired. UF should be able to beat Arky at home.
As I get older te, having the pleasure of yet another UF / UGA is something I look forward to. While I am not going this year I have attended 10 of these affairs. I love everything about it, whether attending or not. Yes, UGA will be heavily favored, but it's damn exciting to think what a victory would mean for UF. I think the kids will come to play. How could they not? This is essentially for a berth in the SEC Championship for both teams. Sweet justice and history to that, in this, the last football season of what will b E a bygone era. I'm fired up! Victory is possible! HOW BOUT THEM GATORS!
