Ugh. If I were AR, I'd be leery of letting anyone cut on my throwing shoulder unless it really had to be done.

Hope he has a speedy recovery.

I think this is just AR's career in a nutshell. Great athlete who seems fragile and can't get thru a complete season healthy.

If the shoulder on his throwing arm is damaged, he will never be able to throw properly unless he fixes it, and continuing to throw with it damaged can make things worse. With the diagnostic tools they have now, they will know whether his shoulder needs surgery or not. A good shoulder surgeon can make him better than new and I'm sure the NFL will get him a good one.

It would be stupid of him not to repair it, unless he has decided to end his career.

All I am saying is get more than one opinion. AR's injury was reported as grade 3 from what I recall. PT and rest may be a possible treatment for him.

    AC Joint Surgery
Surgery is the clear choice for highly displaced AC joint separations (Grade 4, 5, and 6), and also for Grade 3 AC separations that demonstrate significant horizontal instability. Deciding on a surgeon is critical to achieving a complication-free and pain-free result. Unfortunately, there is no “gold standard” procedure so different surgeons have different approaches. The failure / complication rate for most procedures is approximately 20-30% which is very discouraging.

    I would be interested in hearing a hypothetical response from @GatorKnight5 . . .

He was a huge risk getting picked that high, from being able to pass accurately in the NFL, reading a defense, and to staying healthy.

AR has all the potential talent in the world, but at this point I would not trade Mertz as a QB for AR for UF.

In the end I would still bet the Colts will regret the pick in 5 years.

The article notes that they are consulting four or five people to decide the best course forward.

Most type III I would treat nonop for the type of patients I see. The literature is pretty controversial but in a high level athlete I would be very surprised if he did not have surgery

Take your time and do what you need to do to fix your body. Worst comes to worst, he’s got a life-changing amount of money to fall back on.

Wish him well. Running QBs dont last long in the NFL. He did everything he could to ensure he wouldn't get hurt last year and well that strategy doesnt work in the NFL....glad he got a big pay day for him and his family. Colts have another Andrew Luck on their hands...

Way too early for this. Posts like this give the over the top AR posters fuel and rightfully so. Certainly not the best start but he's looked better than expected in limited playing time. Time will tell one way or the other.

    I’m calling bust, sorry.
And, in reference to the “over the top AR posters”, I think Anthony is solely responsible for their opinion of him. Mertz may be less physically talented, but, dude is a baller, and lays it all on the line for his teammates.

I know, right? Reality sucks sometimes.
Did you have a counterpoint to articulate?
