You don't have to go as far as ESPN to find who said that. You just need to look back in the threads here to find numerous examples.
Trying to find the primary source. Here is a secondary . . . CFB Writer Predicts Prominent SEC Team To Have Worst Season In 4 Decades, Fire Head Coach
Here it is . . . Mandel's SEC predictions: Can Georgia 3-peat? Will Alabama bounce back? Billy Napier, Florida: Week 11. Big-brand SEC programs don’t let coaches have two bad seasons, and Napier, 6-7 in his first one, has the makings of a last-place team this fall. That former Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz is his best option at that position does not bode well. If he really goes 3-9, the boosters will find $32 million to pull the plug. You might note that he writes "if" here, but look at the standings at the top of the article. He picks FL to go 3-9/1-7.
Not to be that guy, but I am not sure that getting to 5 wins after a 4th quarter comeback win over South Carolina is deserving of too much crowing.
I don’t think we are crowing. We are just very proud of our ( for the most part) young Gators. Proud that they didn’t give up, didn’t point fingers, and kept fighting. Here’s a thing, a win is a win whether it is pretty or ugly. This one, since we have struggled on the road for two years, feels pretty darn good to me. Nobody will ever go back and say well they barely squeaked that one out. What they will remember is an unbelievable come back at that a year ago today would not have happened… That’s progress. May not happen, but sometimes games like this propel teams to greater things, even if we only get to seven wins this year, it is an improvement and this win can be looked at as the bridge that helped us close the gap possibly.
Stewart Mandel. Mandel's SEC predictions: Can Georgia 3-peat? Will Alabama bounce back? Florida football: Stewart Mandel predicts the Gators will fire Napier this year
Florida's (5-2, 3-1) remaining SEC Schedule: #1 Georgia (7-0, 4-0)-Jax Arkansas (2-5, 0-4) at #19 Louisiana St (5-2, 4-1) at #20 Missouri (6-1, 2-1) #4 Florida St (6-0, 4-0)
Tough stretch ahead 4 of the remaining 5 against top 20 teams 3 of 5 not at the Swamp At Lsu against a Off that has over 500 yards in 6 straight games. Maybe a bowl game then a 2024 schedule that is the toughest in the nation....maybe ever. Go Gators
100% agree. But I will say that this team last year, down 10 points on the road in the 4th Quarter, would more likely have lost by 20 than come back to win. That ain’t nothing.
So . . . can we all find three posters in this thread alone who should be eating crow too (but won't)? LOL!
