Before the start of the season, I mentioned how I met Wisconsin grads in Ireland who said Mertz would be a stud for us. Seems it was more than the Guinness!

I usually don’t do this but I had this to say before the season :D:

I think he is exceeding expectations.

I'll bet real money that there were many Wisconsin fans watching the Gators and Graham Mertz play this game tonight.

Okay, this is all I got for a reply:

Mertz is NOT the weakest link. He may stay.

    BTW, good job, Mertz!

Sometimes a change of scenery makes all the difference. Mertz wasn't some scrub recruit. Kid had game but for some reason couldn't figure it out. Could've have been the offense wasn't made for his talents or maybe it was just him.

Tbh, I had serious doubts but he's more than just a manager, he's a stud

That Kentucky loss was a reality check for Coach Nape too, I'm sure - in some of his play calling.

Also the emergence of Bordingham and Wilson and Hanson has given him more passing options. And Pearsall.....it's an abundance of wealth right now for the kid.....

Yeah, and when you think about it, he has done a hell of a job. First year with the team, new system, and we have all sorts of young players--receivers!, etc.- that chemistry doesn't come over night.

    I'm a fan.

He’s starting to play the game instead of managing it. That was fun to watch.

They probably wish they had him today. Tough loss to Iowa at about the same time the Gators got the dub.

He’s super scrappy, and seems like he’s giving it all out there. Wish protection would improve but I’m glad he’s finding a lot of success as a Gator

Also I was in Madison over the summer, and while it was a fun town:

“Worst QB in the SEC,” they said, lol.

He finally started attacking downfield and it made a huge difference. Even the misses were useful, as they made us less predictable.

His previous coach said he misplayed/misused him, and expected that he would do well for the Gators in our offense.

He is a really good college QB and I think next year with the improved talent around him he will be a star in college football.

Some QBs just take longer to develop. With the success of older experienced guys like Michael Penix Jr., Bo Nix, and even Graham Mertz, I think it's time that fans stop writing off transfer QBs just because they weren't great at their previous stops.
