Gators were TURRIBLE that first set. Hit .100 with 9 attack errors, 0 blocks to Miss. State's 5. The serving was OK, with 2 service errors to 2 aces, but their play at the net was awful. Victoria hit at -.444, Fitzpatrick .182, Okammor .200. They need to focus and get it going because they should beat this team easily.
Team has gone from what I thought might be NC material, to possibly being beat by anyone … Geez Not a VB expert but can losing 1 player mean that much
How about Ocalagirl A.C. Fitzpatrick lifting the Gators up to win set 2. 4 straight service aces??!!! She hits kill shots from the service line. C'mon Gators, keep it going and take this match.
That was pitiful. Losing 1-3 to Mississippi State. They are looking at being a middle of the SEC pack team with a tough stretch coming up. They were totally outplayed by an 8-8, 1-5 team. Passing was terrible. 24 attack errors to 10 for the Bulldogs. 4 blocks to their 12. Without Stuckey, this team just has not bonded and rallied together and they look lost. Their next matches are at Texas A&M, at Ole Miss and then hosting Tennessee, Kentucky & LSU. Not looking good.
If something doesn’t change drastically, this team is toast and won’t make the post season. It seems like they have folded up their tent for the season.
I just glanced at the stats. One thing I noticed was Dixon not playing and Victoria hitting 0.30 on a bucket of swings. What isn’t Gravlee getting some swings at OH I’m wondering….
Is it too much to compare Stuckey's loss to Gator football losing Tim Tebow to an injury 3 games into the season? That's kind of how I see this year's volleyball. Alexis was THAT important and the team hasn't figured out how to compensate for her loss.
I agree with you. The team has not regrouped after the loss of Stuckey and it's got to be frustrating for Coach Wise. Tonight they served well, but just were horrible in passing the ball and their stars missed way too many open kills. They got outplayed at the net by a much smaller team. Does not bode well when they face better talent.
Losing to bottom-feeder MSU is not a good sign going forward. I had inked this one in as a 3-0 win. Ugh.
Stucky - Gone Hutson - Gone Dixon - Out of Match There are a lot of inflated opinions for this team which is a shell of what UF started the season with. Setting is predictable and not good. Receiving wasn't much better. Still giving away too many points on serve that this team can't dig itself out of the hole from. Hitting was awful. Blocking was almost non-existent. The on-court chemistry does not match the off-court chemistry. Congratulations to MSU for doing what they had to do to win. You folks need to prepare for the coming losses. Everybody UF plays knows they can win and they will be giving 110% to put some long-wanted payback on the Gators. As I said in a post after a previous loss, the bullseye on the Gators is bigger than it has likely ever been under Mary Wise. My advice is to enjoy what we have as the season is short and look forward to the bright future in 2024 and beyond.
I'm not throwing in the towel on this season. Dixon will be back. And Kennedy Martin is still just a freshman and likely will continue improving throughout the season. If we can fix a few details we might yet be a contender.
That's your choice that I'm not buying. Hey, if I'm wrong, I'll eat crow and enjoy the season better than what I'm thinking now. I see coaches who are on the hot seat and are likely going to be fired soon. I describe them as Dead Coach Walking. I'm seeing this 2023 team as Dead Team Walking. I do hope you are right and I'm wrong.
Sounds as if she was a game-time decision. We certainly could have used her. Unfortunately, this team is in a depression. I hope we can work out of it.
