Celebration penalty bit them in the ass. Allowed Houston to get the ball in decent position. One pass to shorten the hail Mary and there you go.
We travel to WV every year to place flowers on my wife’s parents gravesite. Going to stay in Morgantown next weekend and have tickets for WVA vs Oklahoma State. Scheduled our trip to coincide with our open date. Hope we aren’t too late to see some Fall colors. Agree with antny1. The celebration penalty almost certainly cost WVA the game.
You should still see quite a bit of color although maybe just a little past peak. I have caught it at the peak in WV a couple of times and it is spectacular.
As amazing as that was (and it was incredible!), it still doesn’t beat the Flutie-esc Hail Mary by GT last weekend after Mario’s idiot “let’s not take a knee” play call Bwahahhahahahahah
I'm in the same mountains, but a little South in East Tennessee, and you should get plenty of almost peak colors next weekend. Hope you guys have a safe trip! PS -- I haven't spotted any woolly worms yet so not yet peak. LOL!
West Virginia ended up kicking off from the 10 yard line I believe. More of Low squib kick although not quite at that. One pass completion out of bounds for what I think was around a 10 yard gain or so. Their celebration penalty after their score contributed greatly to the loss. There was almost no chance had they kicked off normally short of a kick return for touchdown or miracle play.
A little bit of a rivalry in the making. This is Houston's first year in the Big12 and every first win in every sport so far has been against West Virgina.
Two teams that have no business being in the same conference “traditionally.” I guess it’s like some of these manufactured rivalries we have each time the SEC expands.
There was also a 100 yard kick off return for a touchdown, plus a number of big yardage plays. Crazy game that went back-and-forth.
