Yep, reminds of a Muslim friend who was born in Iran but raised in England/US who many years ago educated me on all the similarities between the two peoples. Interestingly, he had far more in common with a mutual Jewish friend than a wasp like me

What a well-written post! Too bad it is full of innuendo and half-truths.

    a) do you really think that "all Palestinian people" want death to Jews and the Israel. Generalization, much?

    b) furthermore, exactly how are the Palestinians supposed to, as you so eloquently put it, "throw off the yoke of hamas?"
Possibly with slingshots and sticks and rocks?
Perhaps Israel will supply the Palestinians with small arms and mortars and other materiel?

    c) [Palestinians] "do not expect a lot of sympathy for [sic] for the rest of the world"
When has anyone/ any nation given two shits about the Palestinian Plight?

Are we really going to compare this situation to WW2? Does Hamas have anything like a Wehrmacht or a Luftwaffe? I didn’t realize Hamas had occupied Israel for four years and killed north of ten million Israelis in the process. As noted before, this move by Israel was on Day 1 of the war. Not four years in…

US Carriers are still suspended. But there are a few international commercial airlines flying in and out of Israel.

Link to hamas fighters raiding across the border?

Well, then, we’re all good. Because if Israel kills a bunch of women and children, it won’t be out of vengeance. It will be because they are trying to eliminate a legitimate military target who purposely murders women and children and then cynically hides behind them. Pretend they’re, like, “white supremacists” in there if it helps you sleep at night.

Well then the Hamas strategy of embedding with families women and children would be a huge success!

Sounds like a convenient excuse to justify the killing of women and children.

    More convenient excuses.

Hamas is not making raids on the border. They are getting crushed in Gaza.

Nobody has been a slave legally in the US for over 165 years. That's not to say there's hasn't been other forms of racism during the end of the Civil War and today. But if an African American believes slavery is the reason they aren't getting ahead today, I'd say to them stop living in the past. Learn from history so we don't repeat the mistakes and so improve upon the successes, but history is in the past. It cannot be changed. Time only moves forward.

I get why the Palestinians are upset. But they lost. They gambled Israel wouldn't exist today, every Jew in the area would be dead or wet by now, and Palestine would be the country on the map. But that never happened. The Jews won. It's time for the Arab world to accept this if they are ever going to move forward.

As for Israelies not having the high ground, what does this matter anymore? But I ask, how are the Israelies supposed to minimize civilian casualties when Hamas hide themselves and their weapons among the Palestinian civilians? But dead Palestinian civilians doesn't bother Hamas. They use them for propaganda and continue the cycle of hate.

There are only two ways forward for peace. Every Israeli either dead or relocated, which isn't happening. Or the Palestinians accepting the truth and demanding they are no longer pawns, and want peace. Until this happens, bloodshed will continue ad infinitum. There is no moral high ground here.

    Speaking of:
    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/live-blog/israel-hamas-war-live-updates-rcna120252
70 people — mostly women and children — were killed after Israeli airstrikes hit convoys of Palestinian evacuees heading south in Gaza.
    ------
Israel did it. Therefore, they were military targets, as Taipan said. Earlier, a Reuters journalist was killed by an Israeli artillery strike. Another military target.

So you think Israel’s goal is to kill women and children? Wow.

I think they want revenge. You know that whole “eye for an eye” thing in the Old Testament?

And what are you going to tell Black people who believe that slavery, Jim Crow, and systemic discrimination are why Black people as a group are still trailing behind white people? Stop living in the past. Get over the systemic racism. Time only moves forward. We, as a society, owe you nothing. Right?

This is a meaningless statement. The Palestinians don't consider the conflict as over. They believe they can outlast Israel.

How much it matters depends on one's perspective. If you're only uncomfortable with dead women and children when Hamas is the one doing the killing, I doubt it does matter.

Isn't it convenient how those are the only two ways forward? Just shows a total lack of perspective.

No offense meant to your heritage or anyone else's for that matter, but I don't think this situation is very comparable to the Cuban, Ukraine or most other refugee situations. Refugees from Cuba, and many other countries were given asylum by the US and/or several other countries. No doubt they risked life and limb to get there, but in this instance I see no countries offering asylum to the people of Gaza, certainly not their neighbors.

He's not the only one. Some of the statements coming from that government and its military brass sure don't paint a picture of a group of people who are much interested in restraint or respect for innocent lives.

Actually, no US carrier has been banned. The FAA merely issued a warning. The US carriers have taken it upon themselves to not fly into Israel.
