Yeah. Banks had to process and distribute the PPP loans, but my understanding is there wasn't much in the way of govt protocol on how to do it. Ours was delayed soke because our bank was waiting on any kind of instruction on what to do. Mainly because they wanted the money to hit the economy as quickly as possible so no tike for bureaucracy. So some banks were very careful because they didn't want to be on the hook, and I guess some weren't.

And yes ours was like 98% forgiven as we had all the documentation that it was used properly. The small amount that wasn't forgiven was something payroll related that wasn't covered, I honestly forget exactly what.

Okay, I see. Had no clue how that all worked. I just got my 1500 or so :)

Glad you got most of it forgiven. I might be wrong but it seems to me despite the chaos around PPP it seems to have helped a lot of folk.

It served its purpose. We all knew it was going to be abused because of the way it was rushed. I'm glad they've been catching the fraudsters.

Yes the banks were the ones who handled the front end of the loan process. They would then submit the paperwork to the SBA for approval.

Your big banks created a portal for you to upload your documents and it was a complete crap shoot and mess. The smaller banks had the customer service but as with any loan they still can only lend so much based on deposits and while I am sure the PPP was profitable they still were going to need space for other loans. My local guy had been laid off when a regional bank bought the bank we had just written a loan through. He ended up becoming the PPP guy for a small bank in Georgia. When I called him after BOA did not get us a loan the first time before expanding the program…I could tell he was maxed on what they planned to do for the PPP. But after the discussion he said screw it send me your info. I got all the documents together that had been sitting with BOA and a few back and forth late night scans later we had a loan number the next morning.

The forgiveness part was pretty simple. And the second round was also pretty simple. We qualified for the second round and with all the information already in it was just showing the loss for the time period. Both of our loans were forgiven. As a side note. I am pretty sure you can look all this up as I think it is public record. I am not sure what site shows what but this one lists all borrowers…

    Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)

A lot of people don’t realize that when you do a SBA loan that you also do that through the banks. On a 504 the bank covers 50% the cdc (certified development company) backed by the government covers 40% and the borrower puts 10% down. As a side note…

Wasn't the sheriff re-elected in 2020? Also, from what I read, Sheriff Tony asked Federal Authorities to look into about 100 department employees who had applied for PPP funds.

I don’t know. You may be right. I just checked to see when the fraud occurred, and it was after DeSantis removed Scott Israel

Greg Tony replaced Scott Israel in 2019 when he was removed from his position by the Senate.

However, Greg Tony defeated Scott Israel in the Democratic primary for Sheriff, and then went on to win the election in 2020 by easily defeating (R) H Wayne Clark. So, technically, the voters of Broward County put Gregory Tony, a Democrat, into office, not Ron DeSantis.

Of the 67 counties in Florida Broward county ranks #66 in highest percentage of Demoncrat to Republican voters. Perhaps that explains the level of corruption in Broward County government.

Sorta true. Tony was a Republican when desantis appointed him tho, didn't even live in Broward, and he ultimately made a business decision and converted to the Dems before the election. He was the incumbent in a Dem county so easily reelected.

Alachua County, the state's bastion of higher education, standing proud over some of Florida's more redneck counties.
