Total viewing of College Football across all networks is up +12% this year and up +28% over the last five years. Some might chalk up that trend to the rise of legalized sports gambling, but even sports TV's crown jewel, the NFL, has seen a more modest 7 percent increase over the past five years, per Nielsen data.

Interesting what could have happened to make the attendance rise so sharply in 2022? What was happening in 2020 and 2021? Lol... Maybe we all caught a flu?

 

A perfect example how you can use Stats to make a point and still completely miss the story in total. Lots of fans stayed away in 2021 as well and of course in 2020 many venues were limited to 25-30% capacity (and some not at all except for families like the SEC Champ game). Particularly as that rebound wave hit right when football was starting up in Sept 2021 (and my business has the half a dozen or so Fall/Winter facility rental cancellations to prove it).
