ORLANDO, Fla. – Universal’s Epic Universe will come under a special taxing district under a new ordinance approved by Orange County commissioners Tuesday. The commissioners unanimously approved a plan to establish the Shingle Creek Transit and Utility Community Development District. The district would also be responsible for modernizing the county’s South Water Reclamation Facility, which is adjacent to Epic Universe, including improving odor control from the plant and also making improvements to Epic Boulevard. There would be no residents within the district. There would only be two landowners, including Universal itself, meaning Universal would pay property taxes to the district. All members of the board will be Universal employees according to an article from Orlando Biz Journal. I soon expect a special session to make sure that the board is replaced with Desantis appointees to ensure that all theme parks are on a level playing field
There will be no need for that. Universal is run by business people, not woke, virtue signaling ideologues like the Rat. Universal knows what this district means to them from a financial standpoint and will not do anything stupid to screw it up. Their own taxing district saves them $M’s and lets them determine how the money is spent. These deals are a gold mine for companies. Disney was foolish to screw themselves like they did.

This proves little to nothing. Every company has a PR dept and most show the love to all segments of society. Disney is in another league. Like Target they went big into got that area.
Yes, everyone knows there are no actual rules, just the whims of DeSantis and the people that follow his lead
What's worse, donating a bunch of money to LGBT causes, or sending a beer with their picture on it to a LGBT person? Hmmmmm
You're probably right, because the term "Woke" has been so watered down and neutered by the right that I really don't even know what it means anymore. I mean, energy saving practices are labeled "woke." Green M&Ms are "Woke."
That's one hell of a shifting of responsibility. Disney used its free speech rights to speak out on a political issue. Ron DeSantis and his cronies retaliated against them for doing that. Disney didn't "screw themselves." The Republican freedom-haters in our government screwed them. If you think that's an appropriate response to free speech, well, I understand why you vote Republican.
I'd argue its random who right wingers get mad at and for what. Universals activities look very similar to Disney's. Cancel culture at its finest.
Yeah, its more of a matter of profile not some imaginary line of going too far. Lots of corporations put out statements against 'Don't Say Gay,' many of them were more strongly worded too. But Disney is a bigger fish than say, a professional women's soccer team.
