I'm generally not a fan of starting a thread just because we found someone somewhere doing something stupid. But this is pretty bizarre. A public school principal in Louisiana took the student council president's title and revoked his endorsement for a college scholarship because he saw a video of her dancing at a party. He said she wasn't living up to 'God's ideals.'
    That's a public school principal.
There was an inevitable uproar. He's said he'd apologize, reinstate her student title and take a leave of absence.
It's hard to imagine it's the first time his personal religious views have created problems there.

And the deadline has passed for the scholarship. Stay in your lane, people.

He should change his name to Karen and join an HOA.

I don’t have access to the link. Was the student looking for admission to a religious college?

I ask because perhaps the recommendation scholarship was based on the girl going to a Christian school.
Maybe the principal gave his recommendation based on thinking she had better character.
    Just trouble shooting.

Why would that matter in regards to the Principal's behavior, as a public school principal?

If the University the student applied to wanted to act on their admissions process based on the evil sin of dancing, that might make more sense. But in this case, this principal should be fired immediately.

This is a lose lose story it appears. No clue why the principal injected himself like this. Sounds like this should have been a discuss cameras and social media are everywhere and just be careful as you are a very bright and intelligent student with a promising future. I don’t want to see something that gets taken out of context hurt you in the future.

    Instead he crossed the line.

As in her character. Sounds like she was showing a lack of good judgment. I don’t know how far she went at the party.
It’s possible the principal saw something disturbing and deeply regretted his endorsement.

How long till it becomes an infringement on his religious freedom if he is unable to punish students who don't behave according to his religious ideals, even off campus? I see an Alliance Defending Liberty lawsuit coming.

Bad judgement for a high school senior to dance and laugh at the local country club after homecoming. Seriously?

Did you see the pictures or videos?
I’m surmising a scenario where a principal would act the way he did.

O and B is just trying to be objective. I think he is where I am. Likely an overstep but certain parts may have a reason behind them that could be defended. At least that is my take away without speaking for O and B.

This looks to be a lose lose though. And I certainly think the principal overstepped on certain things for sure.

While we all worry about Republicans trying to make Handsmaid's Tale a reality, this guy goes for Footloose.

    Old joke:

Q: Why do [insert conservative religious group here] not approve of pre-marital sex?

A: Because it might lead to dancing.
