"...a great opportunity for our candidates."

The GOP is in a never ending race with itself to see who can be the most disgusting. Tim Scott today said, "Biden has blood on his hands."

I remember all the rhetoric in 2003 coming from this crowd that any criticism of Bush during the Iraq war was tantamount to sedition. I guess those kind of days are long over.

US politicians rally around Israel but swipe at each other over policy differences

We can laugh at Republican idiocy but there is a scenario where this whole incident hands the election to Trump, if there is a long drawn out conflict involving American hostages.

Trump made it a great opportunity for Hamas when he handed over Israeli intelligence to Russia

Trump: no Russian provocation- moves embassy to Jerusalem- peace accord
Biden: Afghanistan fiasco, Russia invades Ukraine, Hamas attacks Israel

Oh, forgot- those tweets were just too much. Must go back to soft spoken guys who allow other countries to take what they want and give us the middle finger. Left on!!!

Why would Russia or Hamas want to embarrass Trump? He’s on their side.

Why did you ignore the part where Trump gave Russia Israeli intelligence?

If the gop wants to support Israel, the gop needs to get its head out of its ass, elect a speaker of the house, and get back to governing instead of just wanting to burn it all down.

Fair question- because I am not familiar with that claim Perhaps a separate thread?

    Was it a mistake?
Was it double trickeration to make Russia believe something?
    Was Israel in on it?
Was it significant…or a small token to leverage a greater gain?
Is it common that countries share info with others that they - on the surface - should not?
Did 51 former intelligence officers sign off on how horrific a gaff this was?
Has this sharing of info adversely affected any of our allies?

    I’ll read up on it.

Well, we all know that it is only Republicans, not the Democrats, who capitalize on human catastrophe.

The GOP's support for Israel is steadfast because the Evangelical base supports Israel's right to ethnically cleanse so they can set up the final battle where Jesus gives the Jews one more chance to convert before he kills all those who refuse. They are very invested in this vision

Democrats are also steadfast. The conduct of Israel and the Palestinians is disgusting, but Realpolitik demands that we must be steadfast in supporting Israel, even as we hold our nose.

Okay. I read up on Trump’s alleged snafu in 2017. The only recent comment is from Israel vs Hamas: Donald Trump`s potential role in Mossad intel failure in spotlight - World News

From the website (underscoring is mine)
Prominent American commentators hinted at Donald Trump`s alleged role in intelligence-sharing with Russia as a potential reason why Hamas was able to dodge the Israeli intelligence network as it went on to launch one of its deadliest attacks on Israel in decades, catching Israelis off-guard.

Again, from the website: “This isn't hard to follow," musician and author Mikel Jollett wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

well, if Mikel Jollett says it, it must be true. I don’t know who qualifies as “prominent” and or what value a “commentator” has but it smacks as a bunch of fluff.

Seriously, this is what you have? The one time Trump tells the truth and it’s disclosing sensitive info? Please - people are being murdered, families and children being raped and the comment from the Left is “well, Trump did something stupid.”

True but things are also changing a bit. Netanyahu has done everything he can to make support for Israel a purely partisan issue in the US. And it was still a great act of courage for Harry Truman to recognize the nascent State when it was so much of the traditional old school European anti-semitism informing US foreign policy. The idea of Israel and a strong and protective Israel as a refuge is to me a minimal requirement for a just world. But man has that gone overboard due to a lot of factors.
