good news. You have company. Either you copied them or they copied you. Either way these Harvard students are in lock step with your opinion.

When people talk about leveling gaza, regardless of who is left there that doesn't leave, that is annihilation...not a red herring.

If this was some other country making the same type of threat to us, folks here would be like gtfo. It only makes sense to people who hold innocent civlians responsible for govt or military in which they have no control.

This seems to be a positive development. The administration is attempting to work through setting up a southern corridor so that civilians can evacuate into Egypt

Quite literally in the post you responded to. But there are several others. Giving civilians the option to either flee their homes or suffer the consequences is a call for annihilation of people. It's leave or die.

No it’s a realization that Hamas is hiding among the gaza population and that the entire area will effectively be a war zone. At least they are giving a chance for people to leave and avoid being collateral damage. Did Hamas give civilians a warning they were going on a murderous rampage?

If this was the city in Texas where you lived, and some foreign entity gave everyone in your city a similar ultimatum--take refuge in Mexico otherwise death--you probably wouldn't be feeling similarly. This isn't to say that Israel shouldn't take it to Hamas. It's recognizing the Hobson's choice between leaving your homeland otherwise mass death for what others did is more @ rationalizing annhilation.

If me and my neighbors were harboring murderers, I’d be stupid not to expect blowback.

I understand this is a difficult situation and the Palestinians have gotten a really raw deal over the decades, and it is awful for them. However, while understandable at some level their subsequent actions and resentments have made it pretty much impossible that the situation can ever be resolved to their satisfaction. They have chosen a murderous group of terrorists to represent them, and by all accounts still support them. The situation has become untenable. There is no going back. Hamas, and anybody that supports them has to go - one way or another.

I agree with this to some extent. We punish conspiracy in our penal codes. One does not have to be directly involved in the act to be culpable. If you lift a finger to aid or abet Hamas, knowing what their intentions were, then you participated in the conspiracy to massacre Israelis. Knowing who conspired to aid and abet Hamas is the tricky part.

IMO, despite the tremendous pressure to take drastic actions, Israel's best course of action is to take it slow. The immediate goal should be to retake territories and completely cut off Gaza. Then they should establish a humanitarian corridor through Israel to say Jordan, allowing them to screen for Hamas members from those who leave. Fully train up and equip the reserves while aligning international support in the meantime.

Afterwards, they can take Gaza, root out all of Hamas, and hopefully follow that up with a sincere attempt at lasting peace. Help the Palestinians rebuild, find ways to give them jobs and necessities. People who are desperate are fertile recruiting ground for terrorists, find a way to make Palestinians less desperate.

This way it'll reduce both civilian and military casualties. Going in a densely populated urban jungle with tons of tunnels with a conscript army will result in a lot of deaths on both sides. Hamas doesn't have infinite rockets and they can't attack Israel with them forever once they're cut off.

What of those that didn't choose Hamas or were coerced to choose or under threat not to speak out against them?

Ascribing guilt to all Palestinians for the barbarity of a few is what underlies rationalizing deaths of innocent people. The vast majority of Palestinians are no less innocent than Israelis and others who were victims of Hamas' savagery.

How can you tell if someone is Hamas? I’d there some sort of “Hamas” radar or something?

Israeli strikes demolish entire Gaza neighborhoods as sealed-off territory faces imminent blackout (msn.com)

Airstrikes smashed entire city blocks to rubble in the tiny coastal enclave and left unknown numbers of bodies beneath mounds of debris. The bombardment raged on even though militants are holding an estimated 150 people — soldiers, men, women, children and older adults — who were dragged into Gaza during the weekend attack.

Israel has vowed unprecedented retaliation against the Hamas militant group ruling the Palestinian territory after its fighters stormed through the border fence Saturday and gunned down hundreds of Israelis in their homes, on the streets and at an outdoor music festival.

“We will not allow a reality in which Israeli children are murdered,” Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said in a meeting with soldiers near the southern border on Tuesday. “I have removed every restriction — we will eliminate anyone who fights us, and use every measure at our disposal.”
