The Dems know how to spell "borders," there's that.

Blaming others instead of looking inward I see.
Nah, the Biden bunch is just terrible leadership and the border is another example of how things look spiraling downward.
It happens slowly but bad things mount.

Again, last time border crossings were this high were under Reagan and Bush I. Do we blame them too? Of course, apprehensions dropped significantly under Bush II and Obama, so they must be the reason! Or maybe, just maybe, a major recession hit during this time and with less and less jobs to be had north of the border, many immigrants returned home and less came across? And then, during Obama's last 6 years, Mexico was enjoying a huge recovery that lead to its best economy in its history, which is why less and less Mexicans were coming over. Meanwhile, other countries in C and S America weren't so lucky.

But hey, none of this matters. Just blame the POTUS, right!

No. Paraphrasing is to take a few phrases and work them into one to summarize them, which shouldn't contain quotation marks because it isn't a quote.

So, for example, if I said that you wanted to emulate the East German government, that would be paraphrasing, as you want a border wall and to shoot people who try to cross the border, both policies of the East German government, and think that people voluntarily working for others for market wages is slavery, an underlying tenant of communism as an economic system.

However, it is lying to put something in quotation marks that you never said. So if I said UFLawyer advocated Communism by saying "The East German government really got it right on so many things. We should be more like them and have a Communist government," that would be lying, as I am unaware of you ever saying those words.

I hope you now see the difference.

it’s not lost on me that you and every other liberal on this message board has ignored the question that I’ve asked 2 to 3 times, if not more.

if you had said, “we need more Africans to pick our cotton”, would you consider that to be racist? It could be a true statement, but that doesn’t mean it’s not racist.

I could write a thesis right now on why your comment is racist, but I’m not going to, as I’m waiting for one of your fellow liberals to step in and tell you why it is. I’m wondering if any of the liberals have any guts to call you out on it.

did you not read the definition of paraphrasing, or are you just incapable of comprehending written words? I really don’t have any response to you at this point, because your comments are nonsensical. You clearly have no idea whatsoever what the term paraphrasing means. I will tell you what it doesn’t mean, it doesn’t mean come making up complete BS.

you are literally trying to defend a post from @AzCatFan in which that poster concedes, in multiple responses here, that my summation of his post is indeed, correct. Azcat does not dispute that he posted, to the effect, that the United States needs the illegal immigrants (Hispanics) to pick our crops. Azcat and I are arguing over whether that assertion is racist. We moved well beyond your nonsense.

Azcat and I disagree on implication of his statement, not on the content. You add nothing to the conversation with your posts.

You mean like saying that he said we need "brown people" to pick crops when he said no such thing? That is nonsense. You got my point!

Wait, do you think that "illegal immigrant" and "Hispanic" are synonyms? That's pretty racist, honestly.

you dug yourself a 15 foot hole, and filled it with 3 feet of water. You fell in the hole and think that you can keep digging your way out of it, and yet you’re always in 3 feet of water. You just can’t figure out why. Lol.

Okay, person whose view on immigration ended up with him proposing communist viewpoints on economics about how wage labor is racist and exploitive and advocating for the border policies of East Germany.

ummm, many have been waiting months trying to get an appointment or use the app. If maybe we could have taken those tens of millions spent on a useless wall to increase the immigration service and judicial system capacity we could do that. or better yet, implement a real guest worker program that was put together by the gang of 8 over15 years ago while helping to stabilize security and food supplies in these countries that are struggling so mightily.

make no mistake, I am not a fan of what is happening but it is a complex problem that requires solutions that neither side can fund raise or fear monger from so they don't happen. too bad the electorate is so full of damn simpletons that love zingers and memes more than real solutions

don't dismiss the major hurricanes that struck central america and devastated several countries economies and ag there. those countries don't ahve reserves to address those major natural disasters so the problems compounded a stime went on and indivdual resources/reserves were depelted.

We need HUMANS to do the labor. I don't care color, creed, religion, etc. As long as they are able, and of age. No child labor. How is this statement racist?

The fact that the closest supply of immigrant labor is Hispanic means most likely, our undocumented immigrants will be Hispanics. If Africans and Asians from impoverished countries could walk here directly, they would. But they can't. Hispanics from C. and S. America can. And again, we need their labor, and they need jobs to feed themselves and their families. Who cares what they look like? I don't.

OMG. You are clearly special. You haven’t actually read any of the post from anybody in this thread, have you? You’re literally just randomly posting BS.

I think we established back around page 10 of this thread, when it was originally raised, that in context, AZ was referencing Hispanic immigrants when he made the comment at issue. I would normally tell you to try harder, but I don’t even think you’re trying at all.

what are you going to post next. Waterskiing Squirrels?

I won't answer your question because it's stupid. I never said we need more Hispanic immigrants. I said we need more immigrants. I would never say we need more African, Asian, Caucasian, or any type of immigrant, because to me, race is irrelevant.

So is your question. Totally irrelevant. We need immigrants. It just so happens that impoverished countries that are likely to have immigrants come to the US are Hispanic ones. So, it makes sense most undocumented immigrants will be Hispanic. But again, race doesn't matter, and I never said we need more Hispanics, and never will.

well, you just lost any respect you had with me. Now you’re backtracking. Let’s reiterate what you have said on this thread. You have said we need more immigrants to pick crops. This statement was made in the context of our border crossing with Mexico. You conceded that over 95% of the people that come across the border are Hispanic. You have conceded that the majority of immigrants who are seasonal workers in the agricultural industry are Hispanic.

so, you did say we need more Hispanics in the country to pick crops. Specifically more immigrants to pick your onions. You didn’t claim we need more Hispanics immigrating to the United States to be doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers. Instead, the Hispanic immigrants need to do the menial work that no white person wants to do, like picking crops. You continue to stand by this racist position. Good for you.

this also explains why you refuse to answer my question which you deem to be “stupid.” The only reason you deem it to be stupid is because if you answer the question, you will also concede that your position is racist. You continue being you.

“There’s no longer racism in this country because blacks no longer have to fear mob lynchings (Ahmaud Arbury might contest that) and aren’t barred from facilities based on skin color”… that’s… an argument. Not a very good one. But it’s an argument. Seems like that’s attempting to set the bar far below ensuring full constitutionally guaranteed equal rights. This was the original sin of our constitution: accepting slavery as an institution was failure from day 1. The 3/5 compromise was a failure from day 1. In some ways, states doing gerrymandering on racial lines are attempting to weasel their way back to exclude black representation - not unlike the motivations for the 3/5 compromise. Guess what, that’s 100% racism even if some don’t want to admit it.

I have a much different bar. I don’t think we are there until we statistically cannot detect substantial sociologist differences based on race (whether that is income, wealth, educational achievement, access to banking, you name it….). The best methods of solving the issue might be debatable (surely they are, as there is no singular “easy” fix), but that the problem exists really isn’t debatable so long as those statistics are out there.

Of course here we are mostly talking about Hispanic migrants, to a lesser extent Haitians. They are not guaranteed much, other than basic human rights. It’s not a matter of constitutional rights. But at this moment our free market demands their presence. Plenty of open jobs as it is. Talk to any contractor. I don’t think it’s racist to suggest immigrants are often going to start out in menial or labor jobs. When we had waves of Italians or Irish they faced the same hurdles. A lot of Western European counties are against Eastern European immigrants from Poland or Czech Republic and resent them (probably same with Ukraine refugees now). Anti-Immigration sentiment doesn’t automatically have to have anything to do with race, but when politicians are out there saying immigrants are going to “pollute our nations blood”, or pushing the great replacement theory, or you have people shouting at immigrants or tricking them to board planes. That comes off as irrational hate and it’s a pretty easy call: the motive is racism.

Wrong. 100% wrong. We need immigrants. I never said they need to be Hispanics. They can be any race, color, or creed. It just so happens that geopolitics dictates the most likely immigrants to come are Hispanic. There's nothing I can do about that. It's just a fact.

To say I said we need more Hispanic immigrants is false. We need human immigrants. Whatever color they are is irrelevant. You putting words in my mouth which I never said just shows how desperate you are to make you argument.

Uh oh, looks like your nonsense got shut down again. So, in conclusion, you claimed somebody said something that they didn't say. When pushed on it, you claimed that they agreed that they said it. Then when they didn't, and in fact correctly pointed out that they didn't, you got salty. Ouch, bud. How's the three feet of water doing?
