So, in your professional estimation, which branches failed in this operation? How did everything breakdown where Hamas were able to smuggle thousands of missiles and hundreds of thousands of munitions?

Well since Mossad is external, then they are clearly the ones setting up the false flag, amiright?!!!!

Mossad is not external. They are in charge of external operations, but unlike the CIA, they also operate on intelligence that is internal to Israel.

No idea. Intelligence is not my wheelhouse. Best guess is that they used primitive methods to get around existing collection methods. Israel will know how they did it within a few days. Our intelligence services will have some of that within the next two weeks. The public may not know for years.

Not saying this was a false-flag situation. In your professional military opinion, what are the chances that this operation was known by Mossad before it transpired?

Close to zero. Mossad might not be the kind of people you would want your daughter to marry, but they are very loyal, very professional, and very reliable. Israel is a small country. You can’t have an attack of this magnitude that wouldn’t endanger their families. They would have sounded the alarm in the event of actionable intelligence. And if Mossad or Shin Bet did make such a report, and the Cabinet ignored it for whatever reason, then we will all know it. If hating Netanyahu is what gets you going, then focus on the intelligence failure. Letting an attack like this happen for a temporary popularity boost makes no sense given how hard it would be to keep quiet for long.

    You are so cute, sir.
Nice to know you are a doctor like me and can diagnose such a thing.
    You are a Mensch sir!

Let me know when you'd like to debate the issues. Too bad you are so deluded that you don't recognize we are in agreement on a few of these issues. Perhaps a good nite's sleep will render you more effective.

Just curious, do you hold the same opinion about the CIA/FBI regarding 9/11?

    It is worse than that.

How did they build a fleet of ultralights and train to fly them outdoors in Gaza, an area 1/4 the size of Oklahoma City and mostly contained within Israel.

(OKG, I get your Benghazi reference, before someone points it out.)

Agreed. How in the hell did Mossad not detect hundred thousands of munitions and missiles which would be dropped on innocent Israeli's heads?

Interesting article on some of the factors that allowed Israel to be taken by surprise. Essentially, Hamas gave indications and appearances that they didn’t want any more fighting.

They made it seem like they were more interested in economic development. Israel had even responded with incentives in this area. Many Hamas supporters criticized them for going weak.

How Israel was duped as Hamas planned devastating assault

Iran Helped Plot Attack on Israel Over Several Weeks - WSJ

DUBAI—Iranian security officials helped plan Hamas’s Saturday surprise attack on Israel and gave the green light for the assault at a meeting in Beirut last Monday, according to senior members of Hamas and Hezbollah, another Iran-backed militant group.

Officers of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had worked with Hamas since August to devise the air, land and sea incursions—the most significant breach of Israel’s borders since the 1973 Yom Kippur War—those people said.

Details of the operation were refined during several meetings in Beirut attended by IRGC officers and representatives of four Iran-backed militant groups, including Hamas, which holds power in Gaza, and Hezbollah, a Shiite militant group and political faction in Lebanon, they said.

It is *VERY* different from 9/11. 9/11 was a devastating attack, but it was perpetuated by just a few dozen people who were blended into the civilian population, and they barely used weapons. The coordination and willingness of the 19 hijackers to partake on a suicide mission was the only real key (as well as the security vulnerability of our domestic airliners at the time).

This thing involves thousands of militants. They launched thousands of rockets. Hell they even had naval and (aerial?) attacks. All from an area Israel has under total blockade. Obviously there are smuggling routes into Gaza, but you’d think there would be observable planning and staging of such an attack, even if you get past the on the ground intelligence failures.
