Do you not think the release of the $6B was in the works for "months and months" as well? That didn't happen overnight. Why do you think the hostages were taken in the first place if not to raise money?
Now was any of the $6B used in the attacks? Absolutely not, but we all know money is fungible, so knowing the money is coming can allow you to spend other money on other things until it arrives.

Apropos to nothing if I were named Fred garvin and say the SNL skit “Fred Garvin Male prostitute” I’d at least start going by the name Frederick.

I still cannot get my mind around the fact that they were able to pull this off with such mobilization, and with capabilities I would have not thought they had. Everyone's talking about the Israeli ground offensive without realizing that they have to mobilize. But beyond that, are you even sure you can protect your armor? Do you need to do retrofitting? I'm sure you know more about all these things than I do and are not at liberty to say. But I wonder about it and I try to figure out open source what the likely answers are

The $6B is a mindless distraction, totally irrelevant to this issue, solely for US political posturing

The lack of intelligence by the Israelis is surprising, especially considering it was the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur war.

That would be the equivalent of the US not anticipating another attack on 9/11.

In failing to read the whole thread before responding, you fail to capture the actual issue. The issue is not whether one cent of that tribute directly supported this attack. The issue is that we just agreed, despite all of the common sense to do otherwise, to give $6B to the people who funded this attack. Sure, you can argue that Sullivan et al did not know that Iran would do this via Hamas. But anyone with access to the information they have should understand that Iran negotiates in bad faith. You don’t give them more means to achieve their sordid ends. So either Sullivan et al knew Iran would do something like this, and gave Iran the money anyway, which makes them malevolent; or they didn’t know, despite the evidence and historical record, which makes them stupid. I will be satisfied if the Administration takes accountability and says it was slow to learn who the Iranian Regime really was. I will not be satisfied if for political reasons they hide behind a bunch of excuses, equivocations, distortions, and misdirections. That was a stupid deal. And we need to all be calling it a stupid deal today.

Is it nonsense if it turns out to be true? Eventually, Israel is going to capture some of those weapons. And they all have serial numbers.

One possible explanation for the Israeli intelligence failure was offered by a retired military officer on CNN. Hamas used primitive means to do all the planning, i.e. no use of cell phones, computers, etc. It was all done by couriers. Takes a lot longer to plan things that way, but it looks like it damn sure worked.

Sad to see those, but those were armed IDF and had a chance. I’m disgusted at the scores of women and kids shot point blank.

So it’s not absurd then. You agree that those might indeed be U.S. weapons in the hands of Hamas.

    Meh.
