The narrative that all these irrational fans are mad cause we are losing is getting tiresome. Fans are upset because we have a tendency to just show up and get outclassed in every phase of the game on occasion. The fact that I can text back my friends who are asking me what is going on late in the first quarter by saying "Games over, we didn't show up" is why some are so disillusioned. That has to be addressed, I don't care how many Tebow's you got, if they sleep walk through a couple games every year their talent is a moot point.

Read my other post. The BS was directed at Chris Couch (game changer). He deleted all his social media. Can’t remember if I read it or heard it on podcast. If I can find it I’ll post it. Don’t get your panties bunched.

Whatever he is, I don’t care, doesn’t mean he deserves some of the vitriol thrown his way.

I beg to differ. Last year was Year Three for Norvell, and he was on the end of two consecutive losing seasons. And much of 2020 was him dodging sure losses under COVID rules. Literally, no one was expecting a turnaround (hoping is a separate matter), and no one was projecting SWAC to gift him a fourth season if he turned in a third consecutive losing season. So Norvell as a model for patience is erroneous. If CBN pulls out an equivalent season in 2024 at Florida that Norvell accomplished last year, then I think most Gators would be satisfied with that. If CBN turns in his third consecutive losing season, then he won’t be around for a fourth. No sermon about patience is going to change that fact.

Agree, but based on his title, internet idiots were attacking him.

Generally speaking, we don’t get to get our terms wrong, and then speak of others’ “panties” when called out on the fact. This team does not have an ST coach. That might just be, maybe, part of its problem.

So which of the last 3 coaches should we have kept on and of those can you share how they were improving the program?

Apples and oranges only because if Florida played the Hole schedule we'd be all but guaranteed 9-10 wins a year. LOL! :)

    In my head--- UF
I’m not going to defend any FSU stance on a gator website.

I have simply repeated what FSU fans have said. is he there still? End of discussion

I hope he crashes and burns the most miserable way possible.

ideally, he would get fired at halftime of the gators and FSU game

I would be intrigued to know that as well. But if you forced me to answer, I would have to say Mullen. I think even with the debacle of 2021 he had earned a “Come to Jesus” for 2022, wherein the AD said, “Do you want to be here? If so, hire a DC who knows what he’s doing, start playing your best athletes, and either start recruiting like your future depends on it or hire someone who will do it for you. You have a season to turn this around.”

Precisely why I used the word “equivalent,” because there is some truth in that.

Norvell went 10-3 last year, that included a lucky as hell win in their first game against LSU. All 3 of his losses were in the mighty ACC. So, Billy, in the SEC, has to win 10 games (equivalent) in 24 for most Gators to be satisfied? I don’t buy that, at all, for most reasonable fans. Take a gander at the 24 schedule, no team in the country will likely play a more difficult lineup. Then it drops to, a 3rd consecutive losing season (I guess this one is already deemed a losing season?) and he’s out. There’s a fairly wide patch between 5 (or less) wins and 10 wins, and that’s probably where the record will land, imho.

Just so we understand what words mean, I would say the “equivalent” of an ACC 10-3 record in 2021 would be an 8-5 SEC record in 2024. I think most Gators would be satisfied with that and looking forward to 2025.

And, no, this one is not “already deemed a losing season.” We were making comparisons to Norvell. That is the situation he was in going into 2021. Such a comparison required a distasteful projection.

Since he's not really coaching them on the field, he doesn't deserve any of it.

It's definitely unfair for him to take the brunt of the criticism on the poor special teams play.

We have one recruiting class and the next two are shaping up to be great... It takes time, but I do believe Napier will get the Gators there in two more recruiting classes. The rushed half-time first class should not even count.

Maybe that might have done something, but his agent was looking for NFL jobs and he wasn’t recruiting. After reading those articles that came out a few months ago though - it was MUCH worse than anyone knew.

I thought Napier took over a disaster? Always makes me laugh when previous coaches weren't given enough time but then the next one took over a complete mess. Make it make sense.
