I heard on one podcast that the moaners and groaners only represent 10% of the Gator fans. Hopefully that squeaky wheel doesn’t run off recruits and good coaches… nor stop other recruits and good coaches from considering hooking up with the Gators. There’s probably a right and a wrong way to moan and groan. Go Gators … focus on every game. Give each game your very best. We are solidly behind you all.
Is it moaning and groaning to point out that his play calling is not great? Is it moaning and groaning to point out we have issues with special teams? Is it moaning and groaning to say we are not prepared for away games? Maybe these people just love the Gators so much, it is hard to now be the third/fourth best team in the state. As long as you don't get down on individual players who are trying their best to win. The head coach gets too much praise when they win and too much criticism when they lose.
On repeat. Yes it is. Most reasonable people recognize the issues. We just aren’t making threads about it and jumping in threads repeating the same stuff about it ALL THE TIME.
Addressing your first three questions: YES, YES and Yes. I’m not saying you’re not a great Gator: you may be. But carping about everything that is not going well for this young team and young coaching staffs doesn’t do a lot of good for our team, recruiting or image right now. More than ever we need to chill a little and give this staff some time. If you complain about something it’s most likely something that, if your complaint is valid, the coaching staff is also frustrated with and has already addressed. Have a little faith, Moriarity!
Not that. Some M and G types want him fired. They want an OC today (not CBN). Gripe about play calling without knowing why the Oline pocket breaks down M and G to me is part of being a fan. I dont have to engage.
What is a forum if not to express one's opinion right or wrong within the boundaries? . Scrutiny is out there, it's in the media, it's on podcast, its in the papers, its in sports bars, etc. There are those in here who want to only or primarily point out the positives, I think that's great. But at the same token there are those who care to point out things they see, some may be venting or simply like sharing their views as those on sports shows. To tell others or imply to others what they should or shouldn't post on a sports forum is nuts. And to think that by posting something on GC is going to badly influence some player is nuts unless all the read is GC. To change the narrative would be to actually coach better where there is actual improvement on the field.
Good question. It was about some who are wanting Billy’s head on a platter and those harshly critical about the Gator program… speaking like doom and gloom for the Gator program. Hey, we all want to win. One way or another things should work out. It’s not like this is the first year or two we’ve had disappointment.
In this case boundaries is a subjective term. It may be that you have an entirely different perspective of what is and what isn’t out of bounds. We would both agree not to attack individual players but beyond that most boundaries are pretty gray. An awful lot, not all, of the criticism on this site comes from people who watch the game on television and get to watch from angles a lot better than eye level on the field. Then they have the advantage of seeing instant replays and listen to comments from play by play and color commentators whose comments range from good to terrible. I don’t think you or anyone else is “nuts” for their views and I assume from your words that you think my view is perfectly acceptable too.
I would love an incentive based package, where a great season makes you the highest paid coach in CFB. Something like 3 mil base, 1/2 mil per win, 1/2 mil bonus for SEC championship win, 1/2 mil bonus for playoff win, 1 mil bonus for natty. So, if you crush it, go 11-1 regular season, win SEC, win playoff and natty would be would be 14-1. 3+7+.5+.5+1 = 12 million year. Go 5-7, 3+2.5 = 5.5 million year, better get on that trail.
I'm not even sure why a press conference on Wed is necessary after already having a monday press conference and a post game conference. Not a lot of different answers he can give to the same qustions after the 1st two PC's
I liked what he had to say. I didn’t hear much coach speak. He came right out and said he’s paid a lot and must face the criticism.
No, you just hear the same crap because you don’t pay attention. He talked about getting fired. That’s a first. He took a jab at Mark Long who’s been on his ass since last year (same guy that said I’ll be here longer than Billy) by complimenting and correcting him on calling the long trap a counter.
