I think it should be noted that a significant part of the reason why those places are so horrible is that we have been stirring pots and picking favorites there for decades, if not longer. So, it's not just welfare/charity program - some of that mess is ours.

Congress approved this funding in 2019. It was set to expire at the end of 2023.

I didn't say you said that. But you said I was a "dodo" for not default viewing people as a threat. The alternative is to default view people as a threat and your response contained name calling. It is what you do.

I said that is what you do, not what you said. Again, you called me a "dodo" because I said that I don't "default view people as threats." The alternative is to do that. So, unless you think you are a dodo, it would seem to imply that is what you do. Are you a dodo?

I think it is actually our brains that make us partisan, and I don’t believe any of us has the option not to be partisan. As Montaigne noted, even on stilts we must still walk on our own legs.

From my view, I see that md has a different perspective than you, but you are still coming from a perspective. And md is still using his brain. While it’s attractive to assume we are always the more rational party, the probability against this being true for every encounter of our lives seems to make the conclusion itself irrational.

It's simple. Make it extremely difficult to just walk into the US. How is this hard to understand. Build a wall that stops the overwhelming majority of people trying to come into our country. I get you're butt hurt over Biden agreeing with me that our border is a huge issue. We have never tried to secure our southern border with a wall all the way across the southern border. Once that's done then you can complain.

I think we can't know for certain until it's done. But yes, I believe a well built wall will drastically reduce people coming into our country.

Anyone thinking the status quo of the southern border is ok isn't using their brain. At all.

Anyone thinking doubling down on failed policies such as a wall will work has no brain.

Again, here's what Trump's wall looks like after a monsoon storm.

And here's what I say to someone who says the wall actually stops people. :)

Just look at all the people being stopped!!!!o_O

just for the record I still think this is a stupid idea and a waste of money. And my dead grandmother could still climb over that wall.

It is already extremely difficult to walk here. These people are crossing Central America and Mexico on foot. That didn't solve your issue.

Mexico is sending busses of these folks to our border so they don’t have to walk as far. Only a dodo would claim they’re all walking thousands of miles when even the Mexican govt can’t wait to ship their worst to America.
    You’re out of touch again.
Mexico sends buses for migrants in south, as thousands reach northern border with US daily

Even if that were true on a large scale (it isn't, although they are piloting a program to do that within the last week), that still leaves them walking through Central America. You want to try that and tell us how easy it is?

You are calling for the status quo. The status quo for the last two decades is continually more spending, more walls, and more agents.

Biden ready to build a wall, like it’s a new thing, reminds me of John Kerry’s 2004 campaign of doing what Bush was doing but not being Bush while doing it.

If that is your first principle, then indeed it is true. Of course, it is then only true by definition, and saying so becomes no different than saying anyone who is a bachelor is unmarried.
