Don’t forget Mach number. Air density affects Mach number, which is a function of air speed. I think this is all beginning to make sense.
Surprised this hasn't been posted yet, must watch if you are at all into analytics or tendencies. Bud does a nice job of explaining in a rather simple way what the metrics like success rate and EPA stand for. Some high level notes for those that don't want to spend an hour: Bottom 5 amongst power 5 teams in rushing, this was surprisingly low. Passing offense and total defense average. Defense almost dead center of the graph. They focus almost entirely on the offense. High success rate with low explosiveness, compared UF to service academy profiles where triple option consistently gains yardage, but few big plays. 0 plays from 10 personnel, AKA 4 WR (This one stood out to me) Things that work: RPO, Deep balls to Wide/Slot, Screens Every rushing category is negative EPA, so we hand the ball off means we are taking points off the board, "that's terrible." BN runs about 50/50 Pistol and non Pistol. Pistol is good, non pistol is bad. It is night and day. One of the biggest inditements of BN. 68% run out of pistol, 64% pass out of non pistol. Paraphrased "Without knowing anything else, if the D were to guess run/pass based on formation they would be able to predict 2/3 of our plays." Against 2 high safeties we are 96% run when in pistol. Almost half our plays, if the D goes 2 high we run, period. Allows safeties to run downhill and stuff run game. Passing out of pistol is great, only concern is too many check downs. Got to break tendencies and get out of our "rut." Should be better than Vandy and SC on both sides of the ball. Still able to win against anyone because football so high variance. Biggest surprise: Mertz numbers at Wisconsin were bad, is the thing working the best in our offense. Defense playing well given how young they are.
Good find . . . although I haven't watched yet. I will. Thanks! I put it in our stats and analytics thread so more would see it. It would have fallen down, then off, page 1 by itself. @Gatorrick22 could tell us off the top of his head we haven't run 10 personnel yet (or 5 man fronts) because he has been begging for both! LOL! The bad news (predictability with a 66.7% chance of just guessing based on formation) can easily be turned to good news if Coach changes his initial impulses and runs from non-pistol or throws from pistol. Easy . . . if he wants to do it. Sometimes you fall into these predictable patterns though trying to get into a rhythm. I wouldn't mind seeing more Air Raid plays (yes we run them) with the RPOs and run them all from no huddles.
PS -- Thinking about the kids seeing so much 2HS . . . Cover 2 is used to disguise a lot. It starts looking like a Cover 2 and then players move, so that may throw off some stats a little: Pre-snap versus what the D actually ran. Still haven't had time to watch.
Sorry . . . I forgot to keep this updated this week. Must've been busy doing other things around here . . . LOL!
