That over the last two years basically ALL of them have been hurt and have missed at least one game? Heck TE’s included. Why is that?? Pearsall (came into last season hurt) Shorter (missed the end of last season) Fraziors (hurt last year) Douglas (hurt this year) X Henderson (think he didn’t get hurt) Jean (recently hurt to start the season) Mizell (been hurt) Wilson (currently hurt) Thai Bowman (hurt this year) Burke (stays hurt) TE’s: Livinston (hurt this year) Hansen (haven’t been injured) Zipperer (out for the year) Zanders (hurt earlier this season) Odom (hurt last year and in 2021) Boardingham (hurt this hear)
I thought about it yesterday while watching the offensive breakdown film and seeing all of the hitch routes including the interception play and wondered if the receivers are prone to harder hits because they always catch the ball at a stop with a defender bearing down. I dismissed it immediately because I have nothing to back it up but it did cross my mind how injury prone that position has been for us.
Well, one issue might be not having enough speed and elusiveness. We have lacked in that category for a long time.
Ant is on to something, i started to post this earlier. Less about the hitch route more along the depth of the routes and the size of the defenders. Not just recently either. We had a receiver get destroyed against uga and was out for the season. Some are freak injuries like Douglas’. Very little opposing force contact when both players are moving in the same direction downfield
There all wide open and the QB doesn't see them....so they start jumping up and down waving and injured themselves.
I always liked Spurrier routes, throw it over the defenders head, out front of the receiver, with green grass and the end zone dead ahead. Less of the comebacks, curls and horizontal routes please.
Hopefully the staff and players start going for 6 more aggressively. Dinks and Dunks are not coming up aces in the red zone.
Spurrier threw all kind of routes depending on his personnel and what the defense was playing. I can still remember E. Rhett catching check down after check down and punishing LB's and Safeties after the catch.
Imo mostly bad luck...but I do think the QBs have hung guys out on occasion as well over last couple of years
AR seems to throw a lot llof longer passes and it was a jump collision to the ground. This year with these hitches, our guys are gm getting hit a lot. The last two years I haven’t seen a lot of tge fun and gun type passes where guys are hit in stride and keep running seamlessly.
